PvP against an Arcane MageFollow

Deep Arcane has about the same amount of tricks as a deep Ice, although they are obviously different.

On his defensive he has some extra damage absorb, a more effective Mana Shield, and his 2 big ones against a Lock - Improved Dampen Magic (Magic Attunement) and Slow. Now the marvelous thing here is that you are Demo, so he is going to have to choose whether to slow you or your Pet (which is probobly a toss up between Guard and Puppy, unless you guys are both exceptionally well geared in which case your guard wont bother him too much.) If you use Guard he'll likely Slow the Guard down, if you use Puppy he'll use Slow on you. Slow decreases mobility AND greatly increases cast time. Good thing here is it will burn alot of his mana. He may try to sheep your pet, or immobilize him in some other fashion. If you find yourself in a pickle just resummon with FD/MS.

For his offense you're looking at him popping most his CDs early in an attempt to knock you out quick with a steady flow of high-cost Damage, primarily Arcane Blast or Arcane Missiles (depending on if you're trying to fear him or not.) Once he gets you down to a decent degree he'll then come in with his PoM Fireball (Pyro if he's got it) and his Instant-casts in an attempt to knock you out before you can recoupe through Drain Life/Heathstone/Pot/ect.

Unless you're sitting on a pathetic amount of HP, he'll be low on Mana by now, and if you can survive this full blast he has coming at you or thrwart it before he can even try then you're essentially set.

After that he's pretty screwed. He may try to CC you in order to Evocate and Bandaid, but his NoFear CDs will both be shot by now and once you pop out of sheep you'll have a hefty advantage.

Unless he's real good, you probobly wont have too bad of a fight, mostly its gonna be suriviving the time in which he is NoFeared and burning you down with ABs/AMs.

Get him to Ice Block without popping death coil and you've got an easy win, just DC him on the outside of it and start to fear lock him. Slow is inefficient as hell. No matter what, use a Felhound. Keep a spellstone on. His first slow, eat it with the puppy, if he recasts, take it off with the stone. The dog will eat Mana Shield and Dampen Magic, as well as give you about 70 arcane resist which is around 20% less arcane damage if you give it time to work. Keep curse of tongues on him at all times. Keep Fel Armor up. 26% more healing from Drain could be the win.

IMO there are only 2 things (besides what Loki told) that you must beware of:

- the improved counterspell is ugly for a the few seconds it lasts
- the arcane blast can REALLY put the hurt on you. The power it yields (provided he has the mana needed for it) when it starts stacking (lowering casting time) is immense. Ask around the mage forum about it. There have been posts about it being incredibly powerful but incredibly mana-inefficient at the same time. He might opt for it if he swims in mana though, just beware of it.

Also a good chance he saves his PoM to when he is possible to crit you to death (about half your life might even do the trick if he has Pyroblast also). It is a nasty gamble, but it might surprise you.

He may try to sheep your pet.wrote tzsjynx. thats funny cuz u cant poly demonoids scrub. im a lvl 70 mage and honestly its hard to kill locks. u rlly shouldnt be worried bout a ***** *** arcane mage cuz they arent that pwnage in pvp honestly.17/0/44 spec ftw. but neway he is gonna cast slow on u likely, so just flip the script on him and put curse of tongues on him. After that do ur rotations Dots,fear,drainlife while ur pets eatin his face. Honestly he shouldnt be able to beat u. The way i beat locks is use my cs to the fullest. Like when a warlock trys to banish my water elemental or drain life i hit counter-spell, which =8second silence. then since he is silence for a good 8 sec time for me to crank up a frostbolt, pet <frostnova> then icelance thats my burst followed by fireblast cone of cold then he should be hurting for a squirtin. i let the dots build up and iceblock also. And another thing he will use fire ward to absorb ur immolation so he might actually beat u if he wuz fire/frost but arcane i just dont see it maybe tho he could be the truth idk who am i to say.
