guild class leaders...Follow

So I was asking my guild's hunter class leader what should be the minimal stats should be for entering kara. Now before I get flamed by Aethian and all the others I already knew them but was in a crappy mood and wanted to see just how well read our supposed class leader was.

she responds "I don't know. I did kara at 1300 AP, ~20% crit and I did ok" don't remember her other stats.

Now yes I've posted her profile in another thread but this has really kind of bugged me. So then when I tell her what most people who have read a little about their class state, basically Aethian's guide, which I use as both my personal shopping list as far as gear goes and my benchmark, she just says, "well I did fine with my stats."

Am I just to invested in my character to let that go? I mean maybe I just have been in crappy guilds before and this one isn't much better, but shouldn't a class leader either know what the benchmarks are or know where to look?

Seems to me like you're investing a lot of time getting bent out of shape before you've even done anything yet. Get your *** in to Kara, see how the guild does, and then worry about whether or not your class leader is on point with their stat recommendations.

Nobody likes an indecisive person who runs around to anyone in earshot asking, "Am I good enough? Huh!? Huh?! Am I good enough?!" You've read the stat recommendations here. You've reviewed the gear list. Now just play the friggin' game and stop worrying about sh*t that isn't worth worrying about.

Savvy?

Edit to add: Let me see if I've got this straight...you read the information here. Then you opt to be pissy and take out your angst on the guild class leader by testing their knowledge? WTF is your problem? Why is it so important to you that your stats measure up, or they agree with what your stats should be so that they can tell you whether or not you measure up? If I was your guild class leader and I found out this was the kind of thing you were up to, I'd /gkick you for being a **** disturber. If you're in a bad mood, grow the **** up and don't take it out on other people. It's a game, ffs.

Was going to type a pithy reply, but in the end it doesn't really matter. You're right I was pissy and just asked to be an ***. But I still believe that class leaders should have an idea of what their class stats should be, am I wrong in that belief?

Skill is a bigger deciding factor than tooltip numbers. Ultimately, you going into Kara is up to the raid leader, and different raid leaders have different criteria when deciding on who goes into a Kara raid. Some raid leaders go to the Class leader and ask if the gear is on-par and the spec is okay for raiding. Some raid leaders will run 5-mans with people to see how they actually perform, since stats and talents can be misleading at times. I've even seen raid leaders who will take people in even if they are still wearing greens.

Don't get me wrong, Athien's guide is good, but not everyone has the same standards. Also, if you read Athien's post carefully, he even states that those numbers are pretty high, and a lot of people agree. When I went into Kara for the first time as BM, I had 1600 AP and 20% crit, and I was second on the charts, barely behind a fully epic enhancement shaman. I'm sure as long as you know how to play your hunter, you should be fine going into kara with lower stats in the guide.

Your hunter leader probably knows what she is doing, but don't expect every hunter in the universe to spit out Athien's numbers when asked where hunters should be before going into Kara.

Why do you have in your head the idea that there is some magical base number at which you can do kara? Why would your class leader know any better than you? Aside from telling you her own experiences, which she did, all she can do is tell you what you can read yourself. The best anyone can do is give you anecdotal experience, either their own or third party, and at least she gave you her own experience rather than regurgitating it.

the numbers stated in the sticky are for the whole of karazhan, so that includes fights as netherspite, nightbane and prince. wich are a nice step above things like attumen and such.

It are also stats to aim for, you probably wont get there without a few epics.
But if you are trying to make it you are thinking about your gear and how to improve it, getting the maximum possible out of your gear and options.

As stated above, the first part of Kara requires lot lower stats for hunters than the tough bosses AND give nice gear drops for hunters. So that might be a consideration of your class leader to allow lower stats (though 1300 AP seems rather low).

Another thing might be that the guild decided to take along on every Kara run, one not overly geared guildie to gear them up faster and as long as the other 9 are ok geared, the tenth slightly undergeared person can still make a contribution but is not really "needed". I have seen (tightly run) guilds take that road to get more guildies quickly Kara geared to move on afterwards with more players to Gruul.

But as I do not have a crystal ball, any guess into your class leaders considerations, if any, is pure speculation.
