MM Hunter 3v3Follow

#1 Feb 11 2008 at 6:07 PM Rating: Decent
Hey everyone, im rolling a 3v3 with an SL/SL lock and a resto druid. We would primarily be a drain team, but since im new to the spec im looking for some pointers. Such as, when should i use scatter shot or silencing shot, and anything else that MM hunters usually do in this type of team.

Silencing shot is very useful against casters to interrupt them and stop them from casting in a tight spot. It is especially good against healers. Scatter is useful for hard hitting melee enemies. Like, scatter... concussive shot... and so on to run away.

you can completely neutralize and destroy a healer or other caster.
With lots of shots following eachoter up quickly paired with silencing, scatter and a 20% stun chance on concussive you can create so much interrupt/pushback if left alone that a healer cant hardly cast anything before he's dead.
(seriously, i'm no PvP expert but i can manage to do this stuff in BG's vs mages/priests)

although LoS is annoying; with a combination of scatter, slows and perhaps freezing trap you can keep someone pretty cose to where you want em ;)

edit: i'm no pvp expert whatsoever, but this is what i usually do... go for the shaman/priest/mage or even paladin/lock and pushback and/or interrupt their spells enough to make them harmless... sorta like stunlocking =P

All these points are valid, which leads to MY problem: staying alive. The second you unload on a clothie (healer, mage, whatever) the other team knows there's an MM spec hunter on their buddy. I usually get intercepted about 2 seconds after that and it's downhill from there.

If you're lucky enough to drop the clothie in time, it's a bonus, but really, timing is everything. You almost need to do max damage then run/kite. Let your teammates finish the job as you just try to survive. If you have a healer available, your odds of living go up tremendously.

After their healer is dead, you can let them focus on you (again if you have a healer) and the rest of your team can pick them off one by one. 3v3 isn't as hard as 5v5 in this area. After all, 1 down is not the match in 5v5, but 1 down in 3v3 is a large loss of power.

In the instance where you are target, LOS can be your friend. You can't be intercepted through a pillar or an obstacle. Use it to your advantage when running and kiting. I'm usually too late to make effective use of it. It's that darned timing thing again. I'm getting better though with each week.

Definitely get the AXE if you haven't. I just got it and while my agility dropped, my tooltip dps jumped. Awesome weapon, ugly, but awesome.

before you start shooting: lay a freezing trap.
I use it in arena with great effect, drop a trap and the warrior intercepts right into it.
If its already laying there for a hwile your cooldown will be over by the time he gets free too so its very possible to CC a war for 15-20 sec.

for the 3rd member, well.. you still have 2 groupmates right? ;P
If you have a mage, he/she can sheep someone and you can focus o the healer first.

I can't speak for 3v3 but 5v5, my freeze trap is pretty much defending the healer. I'm fair game... LOL!
