Aquatic Form?Follow

#1 Feb 11 2008 at 11:01 AM Rating: Excellent
From what I understood, I could begin the quests for aquatic form at 16, but the druid trainer doesn't have any quests to offer to me. Am I wrong that we get this form at 16?

I'll be logging on again today to see if I can get the quest. I'm level 17 now, so I would think I should have it.

According to wowwiki.com the quest is available at level 16 from Turak Runetotem at Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff. Then it sends you to Moonglade so if you can't get in in TB I would try Moonglade.

Yeah, considering I'm ally, I think that may be hard. I'll try Moonglade though. Thanks!

Normally helping the Alliance is against my religion. But I'll make an exception just this once. The quest starts at Mathrengyl Bearwalker at Cenarion Enclave, Darnassus. Again, if you can't get it there your last hope is Moonglade.

lol well thank you (pst... I have a horde toon too).

I did try Moonglade, nothing there. I'll head to Darnassus though and check it out, as I've been questing in the Draenei area.

Thank you again

Just a side question but hopefully someone can help me. How do you make your quotes say "Cunk wrote"? I can quote, just can't get it to say who I am quoting.
Thanks in advance!

Two things will do that, make sure you on the reply to this link on the message you want to quote, not the reply at the end of all messages. There is has a [Quote Original] link.

So going to Darnassus and talking to the guy there worked (sucks that I couldn't talk to ANY druid trainer), but I did start the quests... but then stopped. It was boring lol. I'll work on it some more later.

But thanks for the help!

It IS really boring. And quite difficult for a lvl 16 toon. Or at least I remeber having some difficult doing it while 16 and leave it to do as 20.
Not really a "must have" before that when you are on a PvE server.

Yeah I honestly can think of ALL the times I've had to swim and it's very few. I may just run parts of the quests every now and then, and I'll eventually get it.

For other young druids out there, there's only one guy you get all your form quests from for each faction. For Alliance it's Mathrengyl Bearwalker on the second level of the druid trainers' tree in Darnassus. Can't help with Horde, sorry.

Thanks Snardo, that does help a lot =)

For Hoard Druids it's Mr. Runetotem in Thunderbluff. As for aquatic form the only use I have found for it is to farm Stranglekelp once my herbalism hits 75. Which sounds like a crappy ability, but I have found that at low levels it makes more money in less time than any of my other options.

Not quite true, isn't the swift flight form quest chain starts in Zangarmarsh? Not at your "designated" form giver ? :D

That's really weird, cause I leveled my druid mainly in human areas at low level, and I distinctly remember the trainer in Stormwind sending me to the Darnassus guy every time he had a quest for me.

The aquatic quest is quite hard at 16, and it's fine to put it off, but I'd still do it as soon as you're able. I seem to be alone in this, but I love aquatic form and use it all the time.

Yeah I brought mine to the draenei areas and none of the trainers said, "Hey! So and so wants to talk to you in Darnassus! You better get your butt into gear!"

They just offered me stuff to train in things I'm not able to train in yet... Damn those trainers!

I'm with ya cake! I made an "I'll get it when I get it" comment in another thread, but that was an alt on another server where I didn't have a handy way of getting ported to SW. Too lazy to run.

I don't use aquatic form much anymore (getting to the Coilfang instances is only thing that comes to mind) but while leveling in Azeroth there's a bunch of situations where it's quite valuable: the shipwreck quests off the coast of the Wetlands, the murloc ruin quests off the coast of STV, getting into Sunken Temple, etc.

It's also great for farming. It's very useful for fishing and then once you get to Outland, farming water motes: you can just sit at the bottom of that lake in Terokkar all day taking potshots at eels. Um. Not that I don't have anything better to do. Shut UP.

Actually, after I got over the disappointment that I would not be able to /clap /lol as a seal on dry land, and the fact that all the rivers on Azeroth are broken up by waterfalls and that I wouldn't be able to practice doing barrel rolls underwater... Okay, I'm not really over any of those disappointments, but aquatic form is well worth having. Skimming over the sea bead is fun, nobody pays attention to what's under the surface of the water, so nobody will bother you, but you can bother them and you have pretty much exclusive access to the sunken treasure chests, strangle kelp and giant clams. It's a long trip for both sides (though it's longer for Night Elves), but it's totally worth doing before you hit twenty.

I too use aquatic form a lot but I waited until Lvl 18-20 to get it.

I am also one of those druids that uses travel forms almost all the time (as opposed to a mount).

I setup my "travel form" macro that puts me in the most appropriate form depending on the situation.

Example:
Hit Travel form macro while in water shift to aquatic
Hit Travel form macro while on land shift to travel form (cheetah)
Hit Travel form macro while on land and in Outland shift to swift flight form (this one is still giving me grief and doesn't always work)

Druid Macros

I would get a friend or two to help do the quest

Lock for underwater breathing
Mage to save on travel time to SW --> Westfall and back to Darnassus (God I love portals!)

I used to use seal form when attacked by Alliance while leveling. Just run to the water, shift and you zoom away from them :) Good when you are near the coast in STV in particular.

I did this quest as both a Tauren and a Night Elf and I'd have to say that the Taurens get the easier quest. The level 15 - 17 goblins for the aquatic stamina half were much easier to deal with then the level 17 - 19 sea monsters. Smiley: banghead

Why am I not surprised? Warstomp. The easy bear form quest. Now this. You hordies are, like, EZ-mode druids. Weenies.

;)

ETA: Plus, peanut butter jelly time! You get the way easier dance.

Weenies.

I don't know, I haven't done the tauren version of this quest yet (2 more levels to go) but the night elf version I can generally do without having to fight anything at all. It's pretty darn easy, just running to Westfall is a pain.
