What should be my aim for Hit rating as an arms specced warrior in PvP? And what good does it do to overcap this?

5% The only reason to over cap would be for mages that have that talent that increases the % chance for melee to miss them. There might be some other classes with similar talents but frost mages are the only ones that come to mind.

That equals to 80 Hit rating. Ok, but does hit rating lesser than that prove worthy hence to overpower? Or would you just miss too much to even consider that?

Hit rating prevents Misses, not Dodges/Parries. So make sure you get at least 5% +hit. As Jim pointed out, any more than that is only helps you against frost mages or anyone who PvP's in +defense gear.

Expertise prevents dodges/parries, but there really isn't much of that on PvP gear. In any event, I would imagine that the reduction in dodges/parries is better than the occasional overpower that you don't get because of it.

Edited for spelling

Thanks for enlightning me! Another question for you: What is more valuable for dmg reduction in PvP: Defense or resillience? Before I went fully arms at lvl 70 from prot, i had a decent amount of defense gear. I was trying to make a DPS tank (a build that relied on high DPS shield slams) and i debated to regem +defense to +resi. What would have been best?

resilience by far in pvp. defense works vs melee attacks only; resilience reduces damage from all attacks. gear laden with resilience also tends to have other important pvp stats as well, while gear thats defense-heavy does not.

Would i be better to replace three +8 to hit gems reducing my hit rating to 44 w/o glyph of ferocity enchant) with 3 +10 to critical strike gems making my crit rate over 29% in pvp (currently at 28)?

Until you get hit-capped, it's by far your most valuable DPS stat. Add in that it helps keep debuffs up (Hamstring/MS) and it becomes absolutely invaluable.

Incidentally, the cap is actually 78.8 (79), not 80. It's not going to matter much at that point though. =p
