Hunters and PvPFollow

So I made my first hunter ever the other day, Blood Elf. But the second I did everyone was on my case a bout picking "the worst class in the game". All I wanted in a hunter was a class that could max out DPS meters, and be great at PvP. Are hunters capable of these things?

You're posting this in the hunter forum and expect anything but a yes answer? :p

Hunters are fun. Read up in here and you'll find answers to all. Start with the FAQ at the top of the forum listing.

Misplayed hunters are more obvious to other classes than other misplayed classes. Hence the stigma.

I think you just misunderstood the context of their remarks. They are upset that you picked the class which will beat their a$$ "the worst". English can be tricky like that. :-D

Emphasis on the bolded part. It's subjective. You personally can be good in arena yes. I don't know what statistics show now for hunters, but pre 2.3(where we go those nice little mortal strikes and dispell buff) Hunters were the least represented class in the top rankings of arena.

I honestly don't know where we fall since the patch. But that's just a general statistic. A more personal one is that hunters are a great all around class. Great single target DPS class for your PvE content. Great DPS for your BGs. Great utility for all PvP and PvE. Just a great class and fun to play.

Hunters are great in PvE and PvP, but in arena, you have to be really good to get even a bad reputation. Druids, Resto Druids, are arguably the best thing in Arena their HoT's are just awesome.

If you really want a class that can top DPS meters in PvE and are great at PvP, be a warlock. Hunters are able to do it, but because of our Big Red pets, we get targeted really fast and focus fired alot. I can't remember the last 5v5 match I had where I lasted for more than 30 seconds, healers can't keep up and CC at the beginning is just shrugged off because of trinkets.

I hate saying this about Hunters but their are better classes for doing great at PvP, but we are one of if not THE best PvE DPS in the game right now.

Haven't been able to do arena for almost all of season 3 due to geographical reasons (26k lag :( ) but it's my understanding that hunters are currently dominating 2v2 due to the insane synergy that they have with druids. Both druid and hunter require a high degree of skill to play in arena, but that's the best team you can get for 2v2 right now. Overall, hunter is probally middle of the pack in arena behind lock, warrior and druid, but they're a perfectly reasonable choice that can have successful teams in all 3 brackets.

In terms of world PvP, hunters are pretty dominant throughout. There's a reason that a big chunk of lower lvl BG twinks are either hunter or rogue: All the "must have" skills are trained in the early levels, while a lot of the other classes come into their own later.

I'm leveling a druid right now, and I can tell you that the feel pretty underpowered until you hit your 30s. After that, Druids just feel broken in the 30-39 and 40-49 BGs, and start to even out after that.

If you want to do arena almost exclusively at 70, I'd go with druid since there's so few GOOD ones around, which makes them highly sought after. If it's a little more about world PvP, hunter is consistently strong with a great arena game.
