Holy Raid Frames, Watson!!Follow

Hail Fellow Knights!

(lol@rp intro)

I was wondering what the best UI frames for raiding are? I'm a holy paladin who is constantly have to toggle through my list of raid members in Kara. I'm happy so far with the standard "Pitbull" frames in 10 mans, but it comes up to big and chaotic in bg's which i usually disable them. My guild is about a hop and a skip from Gruul, so if I don't find something better now I'm shafted.

QQ

heres my regular frames atm, feel free to mock the error lmao

*thats my first illhoof fight and I'm not in epics, hence the low mana :P

Grid + Clique = profit. Don't use raid frames, use grid. Its small, takes up relatively very little screen space, you can easily switch between raid members and it provides a wealth of data about debuffs, mana, health, and other things depending on how you set it up.

Like Dilbert said Grid and Clique are a popular combo. Also, I teeter back and forth between using raid frames. Really, with Grid they aren't a necessity but I think that Bliz's UI is just plain ugly. I use frames more for the aesthetic appeal than any practical one.

Grid is something no raiding healer can live without. I've heard of people who prefer healbot but I gave it about a one day trial and went back to Grid.

I also use decursive (a now dead mod) to one click dispel debuffs etc. but you can configure grid-clique to perform this as well.

Pitbull is ridiculously customizeable. It doesn't sound like you've explored it very much. You'll need to spend a few hours with it, but you can tweak its raid frames to function similarly to Grid, and to be nearly as small (actually smaller, but you lose the ability to see what's actually going on with the party/raid member. I don't have a screenshot with raid frames handy, but my entire set of raid frames pops up in the left half of the space to the right of my ability buttons in this screenshot. Each raid frame is basically a tinier version of the party frames you see in that screencap.

Is Grid easier to set up for the same ease-of-use? Probably, but I'm masochistic and Pitbull is fun. ;-)

Oooh. Clean UI. /em likes.
I always have a problem figuring out where to put all the addon windows(omen, pallypower, recount etc) once i have an entire raid blocking the screen :P

DEcursive 2.0 is available as an Ace addon. Works very nice.

I use healbot.

Not saying I am a major cog in the machine, but I heal (I believe in my humble opinion) as well or better than more geared pallies in the same raid.

One thing I would like to do is be able to target people and sort them a little easier, which healbot lacks (nameclick targeting / sorting). From this post it looks like grid + clique is where it's at. I'll check it out.

Don't undervalue healbot. It took at least a week to get the setting changes fluid to match the party size / event. Someone that tries it for a couple hours didn't spend enough time.

i love helbot as well.

and for unit frames i use x-perl. i dont make alot of changes to the ui besides enlargement of portrait, target frame, etc, but its great to be able to change things if you need to.

another good one is pitbull. the only thing about pitbull is that you have to be willing to sit down for 1-2 hours and mess with it.

i used pitbull for a while, but i kept getting weird glitches where my whole player frame had the skin of the gift of the wild icon, or sometimes would turn all green. annoyed the hell out of me, then i got the watered down version ag_unitframes.
