Dealing with Rogues in Battlegrounds?Follow

#1 Feb 11 2008 at 6:37 AM Rating: Decent
Im new to this game. Ive got my Priest leveled to 29 and I've been running the Arathi Basin Battlegrounds. I do whatever I can to keep the team healed up but it seems like I get taken out by Rogues before the fight even gets rolling. Last night when I was playing it seemed like half the Horde side were rogues.

How do you deal with this?

Big chance you are confronted by so-called "twinked" rogues. Meaning that the level 29 rogues have all the best weapons, armours and enchantments they can get at that level, meaning that they hurt a LOT, meaning that if you are not twinked yourself, you do not stand a chance.

Add that to the fact that the 29 bracket is one of THE brackets where twinks shine and that there are a LOT these days... the answer to your question is: not or twink.

My advice: advance in level, enjoy your BGs at all X9 levels but do not stay there too long until maybe 49 and up. That is where twinkage is reduced somewhat and the edge they get for twinking is not as big and shiny as it is at 29...

I had the same problem at 29 and 39. I always grind some marks to get some PvP-rewards to replace some crappy gear, but I never stayed to long. I often contributed the most by just healing, which made us win, or either stretch the game. Most twinkes I saw were Rogues. I know that, because the only thing I saw a second before I fell dead on the ground were two shining blades. These twinks pick priests for two reasons: 1. We are clothies. 2. We heal players who actually CAN defeat twinks.
Some things that help is to either bubble yourself asap when you see one or use Psychic Scream (of course they will trinket out, but it's damn annoying when it happens to you often). Also SW:P is great; They will not be able to vanish with it on. Ohw, and holy nova is great to avoid stealth-only attacks like ambush.

Another hint: move. Of course you'll have to stay in place while casting but move, jump or turn asap. That's why your first choice will be Renew, because it's instant cast and you can cast it while moving. It'll be much more difficult to stun you, especially while stealthed since they don't move fast.

In the heat of the battle keep the bubble on you too.

Twink rogues are brutal at that level. Move on to the 39 bracket, that tends to have a lot less twinks in it than 19/29 in my experience, and those twinks that do exist aren't quite as godly as the ones at 19/29 (well, that damn flagrunning druid with 5k health was a nightmare... >.>)

Thanks for the advice, I had just got to 29 and thought i might be able to enjoy BG for a little while before levelling. I think I'll just move on up!

For my part the 29 bracket has been very fun. Just like every time you're in a BG stay grouped and not too far in the back. You shouldn't have that much problems. If you can, try to get at least the Talisman of Arathor in AB. It's an awesome item.
