Just wondering if anyone could give me any advice regarding my level 70 dagger. Make a note that I'm not going to PvP much, maybe never, when I'm done gearing up.

I haven't done a lot of instances yet, but I do have some cash to spare. I was initially set on getting the Eternium Runed Blade - http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=23554;source=live

I have most of the materials in my bank already, just need a couple of more primal mights.

However, speaking with a guild mate the other day, he gave me the advice of getting the Gladiator Spellblade - http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=28297;source=live

I see that there is a lot of extra damage on it, but less crit. I just wonder if it's _that_ much better. If it's kind of the same I reckon I'll go for the eternium runed blade. If anyone have any other suggestions I'd happily reconsider though.

Thanks for your help.

PS: As for socketing, do you guys socket a lot of hit if you need it, or do you ust socket for damage? My only experience is with tanking and I only socket +12 stamina gems all over there, so I'm not entirely sure what to do.

What spec are you? Affliction doesn't need crit rating, where destro does. As far as gems go, you should socket whatever it is that you need to play better. I use only +stamina gems, but if you need +hit then use those.

gladiator's spellblade OR merciless glad's spellblade are the ones you should be after. +hit and high damage are what you need more than anything else. if you're lucky enough to be in an 1850 arena team then the vengeful glad's spellblade is like the 2nd best mainhand in the game for us, but otherwise. the merciless is fine and pretty easy to get. gladiators is fine too, but it's not 'amazing', though 100% better than the runed blade.

post edit

crit, regardless of warlock spec, is the worst stat we can stack.

+hit > +haste > +dmg > +shadow > +crit.

the 3 in the middle vary in positions depending on spec, but the hit and crit ones don't. crit is the worst stat to get as well as being something you'll get just naturally as your gear improves through raiding.

Thanks for the replies folks. I guess I will sell my primals and bars then :) Goow with some extra cash. As for the blade, I probably won't get any better than the spellblade pre-raid, as I don't like pvp that much.

I have the Spellstrike Hood, Pants + the Frozen Shadowweave Shoulders and Boots in my inventory. Need about 8 more shadowcloth for the chestpiece, and I'm probably going for the Girdle of Ruination also. About 15k rep away from exalted Scryer-status, so trying to get the trinket and ring + shoulder enchant from there.

As for spec, I don't really know what to do yet. I'm under the impression that destruction is best for damage, but I've played affliction up to this point. (Nice to know that I shouldn't stack crit, cos that is basically what I've been doing up to this point)

I will try and mix up + stam and + hit gems then. I haven't bought any yet, bar one veiled noble topaz, which I basically got for free. Gonna stack them in wherever possible, and maybe mind the socket bonuses.

Thanks again for your advice. Looking forward to getting to 70 now. :)

destruction is the best for damage (/me waits for oaken to hear his "tao's posted about dps alarm" and come rushing to argue ^^) but you won't have the gear to make it a viable choice yet.
until you can hit
1000+dmg
20% crit (before devestation)
minimum 170 hit
8k hp and mana before raid buffs

then you're better off going afliction over destruction and UA over ruin too. so something like 43/0/18

Regarding spec:

Like this, sort of?

And thanks again. Going affliction for a while then :)

more like this:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IEMr0RfuVtcoZxx0tM

firstly, never take improved CoA. the talent is crap. it adds roughly 130 extra damage across the entire spell.. which isn't worth it in terms of pve or pvp, especially seeing as on bosses you should be using CoS/CoE/CoRec or CoD (first 3 are priorities as they increase raid dps presuming you have other shadow/fire/frost users. once they're covered, CoD can be viable.

suppresion you also only fill up as much as you need. if you have 6% or less hit, 5/5 points. 8% 4/5 10% 3/5 etc...

hope this helps. any more Q's just ask. gotta run and catch my lift home

Thanks for the talent build. Gonna respec when I get home from work :)

Can't think of any more questions at the moment, but all of you guys above have been really helpful, so thanks for that.

Of course, if you have any additional gear that you would consider a "must have" I would gladly take advice about that.
