My goodness.

I'm running Black Morass (10k rep and I'm Revered!!!) for the first time and getting pounded!!!

Is my gear bad? Is there a tactic I need to know? I don't have enough health?

My def is 459
My avoidance is ~98% with HS
Armor is around ~9.5k
Health is ~9.2k
(all unbuffed)
We wiped on the second boss. And I was the first to drop.
OR, is it the healer couldn't keep up with me? (holy pally)

I'm wearing the gear I wore on the run (see pally link below).

Should I make a pug with a main tank and just take the adds? Should I respec to holy till I can get my sword? If I do, what bench marks do I need to heal that instance (BM)?

I've done some reading and they really don't say what kind of group to bring in...(class, spec)

I've put off questing all together 'till I get my sword, so any gear I get is drops in CoT or AH.

Looking to find a way to carry myself through this rep grind. Heard that Black Morass was faster than Durn. Any advice would be helpful.

Well, you could use 31 more Def to become uncrittable.

The obvious answer would be to respec Prot.

I'm gonna say the healer was having some trouble keeping up, but the real problem is that you just don't have the talents for it.

I am Prot.
Check my link.

I can't get the Armory to pop it up, so here is a link to my build.

actually the 31 points would make him uncrushable, uncritable deals with your avoidance and needs to be at 102.4% with holy shield active.

My question is, are you the main tank? If so you should be able to hold most of the adds with you while you tank the elite guy.

As far as doing adds, prot spec'd pallys would have no chance holding all the adds, unless you essentially round all them up, hold aggro on them while a mage, rogue or even a hunter just nuke's them.

For a group make up, I went with myself (prot) feral druid for dps and to help tank on the 2nd boss (one with the nasty healing debuff)a frost mage who watched adds, holy pally and rogue

Maybe. I couldn't get the Armory to pop it up... and my ramblings sound like I've had too much rum... maybe he though I was holy...

Either way... still want to figure out how to tank this well. Not only for the Keeper's of Time rep, but for my toons rep...

I was on that boss. A druid tanked the first boss.

I laid down Conceration at the portal entrance and caught the adds as they came out the first boss.

You have this backwards.

It's sort of a moot point though since it's not a heroic situation. Pretty sure the bosses are just level 70 on regular but I could be wrong.

As for what simskin's doing wrong? I dunno, a level makes a big difference. Your health is pretty low, TBH. Especially if you intended to tank both the adds and the boss.

ETA: You've got some pieces of gear that could seriously use an upgrade. Too many level 60-64 pieces of plate. Way too many.

Actually, they are all 72, based on WoWWkiki here.

Ideas on how to fix the health problem? Where do I get the Stam+?

Ah, I see. I thought when you put Holy Pally in parenthesees you were refering to "me" not the healer.

My Bad.

Oops. Fact still remains Mask had the uncrit/uncrush backwards. I don't know that I'd be horribly concerned about achieving uncrit for non-heroics though.

Get gear higher than level 60-64. Preferably that has stam as one of the stats and +def as another. Then gem it for stam.

... and pick up Sacred Duty ... Can easily take the 2 points out of Pursuit of Justice for that talent which is infinitely better.

Yes... Sacred Duty is 6% more Stamina. Before 2.3 there was enough Protection Pally QQing about not having the health to compete with the other tanks. Why take the new 10% bonus but leave out the old 6%? That and gear upgrades (for health) will go a long way.

My bad. I do have Sacred Duty. That was my mistake.
I have one talent pt left and intend to use it on Pursuit of Justice.

Sounds like I just need to either quest up some better gear, or buy it.

Thanks guys!

Rum for you all!

And I don't know what I did, but my Armory links are working again!!!

to the OP, BM is not as reliant on a good tank/healer as it is on awsome DPS.

ive had a 68 heal me in my entry lvl 70 tank gear just fine through BM.

That instance is all focused on your DPS. you need 3 awsome DPS or you fail . . which is why i hate BM.

didnt matter how awsome of a tank i was, my teams would fail terribly. i only passed it that one time as a tank. i hate BM.

i ran BM 3 times this weekend. Dominated it. Healers were generally in mix greens/blues. My armor is quite a bit higher than yours, not sure that matters. Def is about the same. Your avoidance with HS isnt 98% unless you are including redoubt which you cant count on, and shouldnt include. According to your armory you only have 38.75% avoidance without HS, and HS = 30% or 35% with the HS libram. Unless i am missing something.

Second boss if DPS is slow (if they are fast you can burn him down before the stacks get to high) i will put JoL on the boss, and use SoL. Aggro isnt an issue at that point and consecrate/HS will hold him fine. But the JoL+SoL combo equates to more mitigation really.

I also tanked every add the entire instance along with the bosses. Pally tanking amazes me.

As far as group make up, bring a trusted healer and then 3 DPS. You shouldnt have to use a goalie, but you can if you find you are taking too much damage.
