Mana-Etched or Second Sight?Follow

I play only every other day, sometimes less. I progress very slowly, therefore. And it's fun, and I never burn myself out on too much WoW.

That being said, I've not started Kara yet, though I am keyed. I'm an alchemist/herbalist, and don't really have the time nor willingness nor gold to powerlevel tailoring up for Spellfire, as much as I tempt myself every now and then.

That being said, I seek to get Incanter's gear, the Tier 3.5 for mage. I've already gotten the shoulders, and I'm next working on the head.

However, I ran Black Morass to get keyed, and in there dropped the Mana-Etched Crown ( http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=28193;source=live ), the other 3.5 caster set helm. I currently use Evoker's Helm of Second Sight ( http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=31104 ), and while there's a Meta Socket on it, I haven't used it.

Why? 'Cause it looks like it's for PvP, which I have not done since right after I got the epic bracers so long ago. It's got a resilience socket bonus and spell penetration, and compared to the Evoker's Helm, it simply doesn't look as good in stats. Considering I don't do Kara yet, is it still better for me to stick in a Meta Gem and use the Mana-Etched piece? Or to stay with the Evoker's until I can get Incanter's?

I'll be staying with Evoker's but I'm not exactly sure on Mana-Etched still. More specifically, when I compare singularly the stats of http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=28278 to http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=28193 it looks like Mana-Etched sucks for PvE to me. Yes, 35 Spell Hit is amazing as a set bonus, and Incanter's Set bonuses suck, but then wouldn't it be better for me to get two pieces of Mana-Etched Gloves and Robes and stay with Incanter's Pauldrons and to get the Incanter's Cowl?
