There's so many recommendations on what builds to use for raiding, but limited options for levelling up.

Currently I am using dual wield with a fury spec. However I stumbled onto a post that recommends 2h for levelling. Ok, I can respec. But 2h arms, or 2h fury? What gives the biggest benefit out of axes, maces or swords? They all look good.

At my level, Fury has Improved Slam, the shout boosts, Enrage and Flurry, while arms has the big damage increases from 2h specialisation and the weapon talents, as well as Deep Wounds, Impale, Imp Overpower and Anger Management. Both sides appear to be considered essential for a DPS 2h build, but which do you do first? *ponders*

If you had to level up again from the 30s, what build and weapon choice would you take? I am not talking about specific weapons, just the tree and weapon type would be fine. =)

Any advice would be appreciated. Currently I am just logging on my warrior, getting baffled about his spec and weapons, trying to look up MORE info, then logging him off again, more confused about what to do with him than before.

When i was leveling my warrior past level 30 I had him specced for a fury build up until the point that i wanted to stop and pvp. From my experience fury provided the least amount of downtime when leveling/grinding because I could put out a good amount of dps in a short amount of time and I was NEVER rage starved. Between level 30-50 I think you will see that the dps from fury DWing will be the same or better than the burst damage you would receive from a 2H arms spec.

Concerning weapon type it doesnt really matter what you duel wield be it axes, swords, maces or daggers. I actually played around with my weapon config for a while and found that a dagger main hand and 1h axe or sword off hand (or visa versa) provided an excellent solution to a previous lack of rage and the dps was pretty solid too.

Point being if I had to go back and do it again I would go fury, thats what worked for me.

For all intents and purposes, 2h Fury is the way to level. Make sure to get Imp Slam and you'll do fine.

You should see yourself being able to slam immediately after every auto-attack.

this is the way i'm taking my new warrior (level 21 - 115m/174bs)

10-14 - cruelty
15-19 - unbridled wrath
20--- - piercing howl
21-23 - imp cleave
24--- - booming voice?
25-29 - enrage
30--- - sweeping strikes
31-32 - imp slam
33-34 - weapon mastery
35-39 - flurry
40--- - bloodthirst
41-43 - precision
44-46 - tactical mastery
47-51 - deflection
52-53 - imp charge
54-56 - imp tclap
57-58 - imp overpower
59--- - anger management
60-62 - deep wounds
63-64 - impale
65-66 - 2H spec
67--- - deathwish
68-70 - weapon spec

this pretty much focuses on getting damage-oriented talents and keeping a big slow 2H weapon. i'm back on a full pvp server though, so at some point i'm sure i'll get fed up and go back to arms for ms/deathwish/improcept. parry and the new imp tclap would have to be pretty godly for lowbie tanking as well.

i made a thread about leveling builds right after tbc came out. there's been some significant changes to the trees since then, so a lot of that advice no longer applies, but there's tons of good quest, weapon, and strategy info contained otherwise:

re: arms vs. fury -

imho anger management and imp charge offer competitve rage generation for half as many talent points as unbridled wrath. the biggest gain to be had by going fury early on is picking up sweeping strikes and imp slam by level 32. also, it's much easier to keep one big blue 2H weapon current than to keep two good 1H's fresh and shiny.

Thanks for the advice guys. Going to tweak my spec some and try to find a decent 2h weapon and go with 2h fury.

seems we have all been recently disproven here, and that dw fury = win, at least for leveling an orc warrior with MH/OH axes from level 20 onward. however, it seems that gear helps quite a bit here /surprise

That is true, but it also requires a good amount of gold to make it extremely worthwhile. Dual crusaders on weapons, for example, will extend their life by a LARGE amount. If you're strapped for gold, it's still probably a better move to go with 2H fury.
