Bows vs. GunsFollow

I'm a bow guy myself, but what do you guys prefer? O.o

I prefer bows on an aesthetic level. I like my Troll "gangsta" shooting animation, and *thwip* is a less distracting noise than *bang*

But I'll use whichever has the best stats.

I prefer the animation and sound Bows and Crossbows, but I'll use a gun if it's an upgrade.

Since I am a Dwarf with the Gun racial, I have stuck to guns through my leveling. (I know it actually makes very little difference)
I found the gunshot noise annoying, and too loud, so I:
Downloaded a copy of MyWarcraftStudio; extracted the gunshot noise; opened it up my sound editing prog and dropped about 6dB from it; saved it in correct path under my Warcraft folder.
I also did the same thing for my Owl's Screech ability sound effect. I got sick of that pretty quick.

I prefer guns also, ESPECIALLY if you've got one looking like the Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle.

So, to those who say 'whatever is best':

Do you keep a spare Ammo Pouch / Quiver plus unused ammo in the bank, just in case a nice new weapon comes along?
If that's the case, I'll have to clear me a few bank slots.

I'm a "whatever is best" person. Right now that's a Steelhawk Crossbow, and this isn't likely to change anytime soon, since both the Opera and Prince hate me. I do have a Mag'har ammo pouch in the bank in case the WSR drops, but no ammo since bank space is at a premium. I've made the Quiver of a Thousand Feathers, but will save my PN for the far away day when the WSR may finally drop for me.

guns - I just hate the looks of a dwarf with a bow... i wouldn't mind changing my weapon to crossbow, but i ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to use a bow - it's just not right :>

No need to keep ammo, but yeah I have a ammo pouch in my bank in case I go back to a gun at some stage. No need to destroy it just because it's not being used at the moment.

My preference would be Bows > Guns > Crossbows which sucks as I have Steelhawk right now. For me Crossbows just look bad and there's pretty much no animation.

Prince just dropped the Sunfury bow for me, but i'm still after the Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle because of the fact that it's just the best Gun in the game for BM....which I am.

I swore that I'd stick with whatever dropped first for me, but there's another Hunter in my raid group that has the rifle and I just can't stand the thought of not being able to keep up with her DPS simply because she has the Rifle and I have the Bow.

I know I'm just a perfectionist, but the thought of not being the best at what my job is, or at least being great competition with the other DPS, gets me frustrated, and having the Rifle will at least rule out any gear related differences.

But on a side note....I hate the sound of guns.

Where did you hear this? Thats amazing, and unless they nerf it, its easily the best pre-kara ranged weapon, and would be amazing after that too.

To take down Doomwalker, which is who that drops from you need a raid/ guild that is used to raiding, therfore, it's not technically pre-kara...except for the fact that you could BUY it pre-kara...but it's still better than any other gun in the game.

It is for BM hunters, i think SV can get a better shotrotation (1.5:1) with a slightly higher weaponspeed...

I was about to edit my post for that very reason Aethien... but you beat me to it. A-Hole =D

Keep in mind what spec you are and how important speed is to your shot rotation, BM use a 1:1 Auto:Steady rotation while MM and SV use more of a 1:1.5 rotation...so slower weapons do much better for that.

I lean more towards bows, but if there's a better gun, I'll take it. I just switched from Valanos to the Rifle (I can't remember the name off the top of my head, and I can't look at my Armory because the Navy doesn't like WoW) from Mech. I still use the Bow when I'm putzing around or farming. I should be working on my rep so I can buy better bullets than the (/sigh) adamantite bullets.

im troll so bows but since im BM i'll have to switch to wolfslayer l8er :'(
#25 Feb 13 2008 at 5:57 PM Rating: Decent
I personally like guns. Mostly because after hearing the song "Side of a Bullet" by Nickelback, I dubbed it my hunters themesong. I will gladly switch to whichever is putting out the best DPS tho.

So i've relegated myself to using the Bow, because even though the Gun is technically better, i'm not going to let one drop that may never come hold me from progressing and the Bow does great DPS as it is.

I have decided instead to up my crit rating and get haste trinkets and stuff to help lower my weapon speed and make the most of the bigger damage from the bow and 30% crit damage boost from mortal shots.

We did Gruuls last night and The Hunter with the Wolfslayer and I were topping the charts I was only like 2k behind her in damage which is like 2 shots, so i'm not worried about the competition anymore.
