Haste for kittysFollow

I'm wondering exactly how much benefit haste rating has for kitty druids. On the one hand, it seems like 30% of the damage done is white damage (judging from me doing about 35% in solo, and I use mangle a lot more than shred there, if I'm wrong on end-game stats let me know), therefore a 10% increase in haste would only increase the damage output by 3%. Whereas things like crit chance affect all but rip, and hit chance affects every ability.
However, if haste rating does not affect the PPM scale (i.e. if I go from 1.0 to 0.91 attack speed, does the PPM scale down, too) then I may see more procs of OoC, which would help out my DPS by far.

Haste wasn't mentioned in the sticky at all (ctrl+f "haste" yielded no results on the first page) so I was just wondering.

Personally I was under the impression that haste was useless for a cat druid because I believed that you could not attack any faster than once per second. After equipping the trash drop gloves from Kara I noticed my attack speed was at .95, which disproved my initial impression. However using those gloves would amount to a significant loss in DPS for me (2-piece T4 set from glove and helm) so I cannot give a definitive answer from real-world experience.

I wonder what the limit is on haste.

Imagine having an attack speed of 0.1 or so.

haste is useless for druids. we're already at the bottom of the haste cap; 1.0s attack speed. unless something was changed without my knowing.

its nice for bear tho, to a certain degree. nothing youd want to stack over tank stats, but if you can fit a bit of haste in there its some extra threat.

would be funny to see a 1.0s atk spd bear tho.

Haste in Kitty form is useless. I have noticed that there is a meta gem that gives melee haste listed in emmerald's list rated pretty highly (which is utterly incorrect). Unfortunately due to the limiting factors of the game itself, you can not attack more than 1 time per second

Source? I would think that with the Dragonspine Trophy being so good this would be well-known, but this is the first I heard of any limit on attack speed.

EDIT: Beating on a servant in Blasted Lands 100 times with 55 haste rating (and a 80 rating drum partway through) -- 1 min 41 seconds.
Same with no haste rating -- 1 min 53 seconds, repeated three times. (I found it odd)

That puts normal attack speed at 1.1 and hasted at 1.0. This proves haste has some effect but nothing about the hard cap. I'm rounding up a shaman right now for a more severe buff.

It's not useless it's just not very good relative to other stats because it only affects your DoT from white attacks, which is not that much. While rogues and warriors get some sort of scaling from their white attacks (more off-hand attacks= more energy, more attacks=more rage) we do not. Shamans do not get any scaling but a much larger proportion of their overall damage comes from white attacks.

2-piece Malorne. Voila, we have scaling. More attacks means more procs means more energy.

And there's video proof. That's certainly attacking faster than 1/second, and it doesn't look sped up in any way.

Can't remember where I read that the attack speed was limited to 1.0, but I will look around for the link. Also that video does look very convincing, so it is possible that I am wrong. /gasp

lol rick rolled, i think iv posted that somewhere on every forums iv posted on, with mixed feedback.

i alwways thought attack speed was maxed at 1 sec

It's not useless. There is no 1s attack speed cap, period.

It's just not very useful, since something between 30-40% of a raiding Druid's damage comes from autoattacks. Every other class gets significantly more damage out of their white attacks (see: Dual Wield), or has other benefits to go along with it.

With that said, Ferals did get a great buff this patch. See if you can spot it. (Hint: Sharpening Stones).
