Healing questionFollow

I have been working on a healing set for a second role i can play in helping my guild. I am up to +1223 healing and have 124 mp/5.

My question is the plus to healing how is that figured? When i cast my FoL spell on it doesn't crit. It generally heals for about 1k, which is only 500 or so above the normal spell. Just curious about this.

A side note, the coefficients are tied into which spell you're casting, but in a more general sense, they are tied to the amount of time it takes to cast a spell. Again, generally speaking, a spell that takes 3 seconds to cast will have a much higher coefficient than a spell that has a 1.5 second cast. An additional note to that rule is that when you take a talent (say talenting the 3 second cast to make it a 2 second cast) it does not change the coefficient. I used to get that question all the time when people would be talking about the corruption talents in the warlock tree ("Does taking the talents reduce the coefficient?"). I don't think they covered that in the wiki page, but its just one of those aspects of warcraft you should know as a spellcaster, regardless of what class you play.

Just a quick point here and some may disagree with me. Your mp5 seems more than enough, higher than mine in fact. I would recommend that if you can, drop some mp5 for more +heals. As your +heal goes up, your FoL heals for more and more to the point where mana is no longer a big issue other than for really long boss fights.

When my +heal was at about 1500, i found myself using a few mana pots every boss fight. Now, my +heal is up to just over 1750 or almost 1900 when fully raid buffed and I never need to pot other than for those 10 min boss fights where I might take one.

its probably 125 while not casting, which is a useless stat. The only way you could get 1200 healing and 124 mp5 while casting is to basically have 0 crit.

That's a really good point... my bad. I would say that if you had decent spell crit (20-25%) you won't need much more than 100 mp5 (while casting) unbuffed. It's true up to the first few bosses of TK and SSC anyway.
