Since the end of Novemeber I stopped playing, since I needed a cooldwown from the game, with holidays coming, and more important, exams from college approaching. And now, here I am again, lurking the forums.

Now, I see many people saying that druids will end up, one way or another, as tank or healer. I might be the druid to say that I am STILL on DPS, playing more in catform. :D

I was lucky, though, to find yesterday, a nice guild, who was focusing on Kara attunement and gearing, and left my old one, who was too impatient to help me get attuned. Now, I am attuned and finally got that first quest. w00t!!

A first question might be: I still have greens and blues on me. Epics from PVP. Where can I find items for PVE? I ran all the possible 5man instances, and most of the items were with +spell hit/dmg, +heal/dmg, +SPELL, or unfitable for me. Can I enter Kara with my gear?

I tend to believe that most PVP items are better than PVE stuff. Of course, I might be wrong, but didn't find many items to match the PVP set. (S1)

Mech has some decent blue DPS type drops and a nice tricket from the end boss.
BM has a nice dps trinket as well
try the wow amoury page, they have ---upgrade item stuff that will show you where better gear can be found.
keep running SL, shat halls, Mech/arc/bot and SV.
try a heroic to see how that treats you. if you can survive a heroic your kara ready...and the badge's from heroics can be turned in for good upgrades for all specs

Use Emmerald's list at www.emmerald.net

The Vindicator's Boots, Belt & Bracers from PvP are fantastic DPS items that are difficult to beat even after Kara.

If you want more specific advice, we need to see your armory to see what gear you already have. What is your AP & crit?

While Cunk's post talks about tanking, it also applies to DPS and resto as well (along with hunters, warriors, priests, etc.)

When in doubt about gear for Heroics - have all blues (good blues, too, not lvl 61 blues you've never swapped out).

For Kara, have all blues from 70 instances/heroics.

We're lucky as druids since we have emmerald's list, use that and plan appropriately. If you don't want to focus on gear, there's a relatively recent thread about what stats each spec should have before going into Kara - use that if you don't want to be tied down to a a specific gear list.

Except for the acceptable SMV quest reward greens:
Manimal's Cinch, Umberhowl's Collar, and Verdant Gloves.

(EDIT: Whoa...they changed Umberhowl'd Collar and Verdant Gloves into blues at some point...I swear they both used to be green. Manimal's Cinch is still green.)

My armor is up around 22,000 with just two of those three...once I get the gloves I'll be over 23,000. I got rave reviews for my off-tanking in my first Kara run the other night, and tanked Moroes down to <5% health after our MT went down early in the fight. And that was with somebody breakin CC elsewhere in the fight.

For DPS I'd agree...better be blue. More important than color of gear, though is actual stats. Check the other recent threads for discussion of required AP/crit for DPS and armor/HP/dodge for bear.
