I've PVP'd here-n-there and picked up the Gladiator's Gavel. Will be aiming for the +40 spelld enchant.

Now I'm starting the grind for the Gladiator's Shield. Is this worth it (PVE) for a prot pally that just turned 70? It's better than my current, but I don't want to spend tons of time grinding AV & EotS if it's quickly replaced.

I haven't read too much about it for 5 mans (don't expect to raid too soon).

On a side note: if I did get this shield, which enchant would you suggest? Are the +defence, +block any good? Right now my avoidence is very low & I still need alot of defence for uncritable.

Thx,

Kz

I've seen a lot of people with those shields, and I'm always wondering: "Why?"

There is no defense (resilience isn't that great for Pallies/Warriors when tanking), no Block Value/Rating, no nothing but some stamina!

It's not worth getting. If you're looking for a decent shield, I might recommend the one from SL, Botanica, or even the Netherwing Shield.

Nethering shield -> http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=31491;source=live

I really like that one. Perfect for Paladins. There is also a more warrior-built one from the same quest, if you're looking for more stamina/avoidance, as it seems you have plenty of spell damage.

Go for the
Nethering shield -> http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.ht...source=live
Its really easy to get, just chain quest that most ppl in shadowmoon are doing anyways and easy to pug. That will hold you over till you raid and get a nice drop.

Save your honor points for vengence gear or gems.

that shield is only a good shield when you have everything else in order.

you need to have your def skill and avoidence capped before hand, after that that shield is awsome for its high armor and Stam.

the real problems is, by the time you get to where you can use that shield, you will prolly find one just as good so there will be little point unless you really like that extra stam.

I've always seen it as a starting shield, or solo shield. I'd never use it for endgame outside of instances. Even then, I have the Impenatrable Darkness one.

This is the shield that would be better to get form the netherwing quests

I have been using it since I got it and we are well in to kara. You can get all the spell dmg. you need from your weapon with the +40 spell enchant.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice.

Which enchant do you guys normaly put on a starter endgame shield like the Nethering shield? I'm not looking to drop a ton of gold on it, but if I have a game plan I can start farming mats.

If you haven't reached uncrushable status yet, you should put the 15 block rating(not block value) enchant on it. If you are uncrushable, put an 18 stamina enchant on it.

Yep, for armor and stamina, the Vengeful Shield is as good as the shield from Gruul, if not better. Certainly worth a look if you're def capped without it and can't get that shield to drop. And the regular gladiator's one is worth a look if you can get the defense cap but can't get ahold of the Impenetrable Darkness shield.
