Sorry I wasn't clear - mixed nomenclature > me.

What I should have said was pure avoidance. Your example actually furthers my point. In heroics dodge is better than +block rating. To some extent, obviously. you're going to want to block some for threat but a greater chance of completely avoiding a 4k hit is better than only taking a 3k hit (totally making up numbers but you see my point.

What I'm saying is that not having to beeline to uncrush gives you a little more room to play with your pure avoidance. +Def and +Block Rating being the easiest ways to get to 102.4% - if that's not your concern you can afford to throw in more dodge for pure avoidance.

Turns out i hadn't done the quest. i now have 492 def and over 103% avoidance. YAY.

Wish i had read this before i asked in game m8s lol, 500 def to much? i read on the O-bords its a must for prince, lies?

Technically there is no "too much" but you start to see diminishing returns after 490 or so. Not saying you should ditch all your +def stat gear/gems but after you achieve 490 then you want to start working on specific avoidance/stam instead of just going for the straight +def.

Not sure where the "500 for prince" came from, and I'm not sure that's accurate.

As for determining avoidance (maybe I should put this in my sig...) make a macro:
