I've sort of gotten tired of the raid thing and have been enjoying playing my moonkin up to lvl 49. So I am now doing BG for fun. But I always seem to have a hard time with hunters, seems like they kill me every time. Not to mention that it seems like they love going after me as well, although I admit it might only seem like they deliberatly are going for me :-)

How do you fight against hunters, as balance? I have tried rooting and sleeping their pets, but they break real fast (and sometimes immune), and they do some pretty good damage. Lately I have been running up close to the hunter and try to get off some moonfire and wrath, but it aint good enough :-(

I have 200 spell dmg and 11% crit (in moonkin form), and that would be 14% on wrath and starfire, 21% on moonfire.

hunters are ridiculous at the 40-49 bracket, and druid balance gear for that level is scarce. its a very strong class for that bracket, while balance druid really doesnt come into its own until the 60-69 bracket.

your best bet would be to stack as much +nature damage as you can and just wrath spam em. youll be weak as hell cause of low stam, but ive seen elemental shaman crit chain lightning for 2k on my shammy twink in the 40-49 bracket, so wrath crits of over 1500 should be doable, and if you can crank out enough damage youll be able to down them before they can down you.

I got to 49 as druid, changed my spec to moonkin and did 3 BG, I don't like doing them till 70 cause it takes time from my lvling, but just to see how moonkin is I did the BG. Well, it seems everyone come to me always, must have been the pewpewpew that have gotten their attention. Not too bad of a build, I got within top 5 dmg dealer. But then my 70 ret pally has gotten top dmg dealer position in AV, so the position doesn't matter.
This is how I battle hunter, if we are one on one then I am fine (hope that they are not beast spec). You pop barkskin, sleep pet, cast root on hunter, run close to him (you need to have a good judge of distance, get near enough so he can't shoot you and he can't melee you). Then pop regrowth and reju, and pewpewpew him to death. I have pretty much some luck with it. But if they are beast then it depends on how your gear set up is because you have pet immune to your sleep spell. Hope that helps.

I don't think it's possible to crit 1500 damage with wrath, the highest I have managed has been about 1440 with starfire, and I think around 800 on wrath. I can raise my spell damage with about 20, and maybe an additional 55 with enchants, but then we're talking serious gold and I don't think it's worth it :-)

If I'm not mistaken, this is not true anymore, since there is no deadzone since the last patch.
Or, at least, that's what I always read. Never had the opportunity to see, as I'm feral.

Not a Moonkin but....mebbe think outside the box? Prowl up to them, pounce, sleep pet while stunned and then barkskin and pew pew? That way you get in their face and dispose of their pet w/out getting shot. And if you have nature's grasp on, maybe he'll get rooted when he wing clips u.

Or ignore pet, pounce and just start dpsing? Again, this may demonstrate my ignorance of how to play a moonkin, but on my mage the only way to kill a hunter is stay in melee range. The mage can blink or use blazing speed but a moonkin will take longer to close that distance. I also find killing the hunter and ignoring the pet is the only worthwhile approach; if he's MM the pet does virtually no damage (esp w moonkin armor) and if he's BM he'll just go big red. Remember, pet goes away when hunter dies. Hunter does not go away when his pet dies.

well, the one shaman i know has +400 nature damage when fully buffed, and chain lightning has nearly the same damage coefficient as wrath, so with talents i think a 2k crit is definetely possible, especially with the berserking buff added in.
