Hi all ,

please comment / suggest / critique on the following build

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=cZVVwRVz0xoZIu0MxcMhV

i am currently questing and getting keyed/geared for kara ( havent done any heroics yet ).with this build i get good amount of dps was well as a lot of crits.
also can perform decent CC.

so basically what i am asking is will this serve as a good pve / pvp and (future) raid build ?

thanks all

First of all, I think you need to choose between either MM or surv, as you miss some major talents in each tree with your current build. Here is my setup, I think this is the best for those who like the marksman tree. It is a all around build however, very good in pvp, pve and raids. if you want to make your hunter purely a raiding Hunter then BM is the way to go as you can put up a lot more damage.

If you are going for more pvp however you can get rid of surefooted and put the points in Entrapment or Improved Stings, as those can be very useful for pvp.

For Survival, I'll just post what my roommate posted on our guild forums for you (it is faster this way).

"I chose BM from 10-70 and LOVED it. It's so very versatile and puts out the meanest dps around with the most simple shot rotation. Picking up the Wolfslayer rifle from Kara (little red riding hood event) is the best investment to this build and wont EVER be replaced until you find a higher dps weapon with the same speed... which i think of. Once that's grabbed, it's a simple 1:1 rotation with auto shot - steady shot because of the 20% increased attack speed of BM. This is the best pve spec i could think of for BM:

After a few months at 70, i wanted a change and had always heard how challenging Survival can be. I've researched and found through experience that it's played very differently from BM (especially in pvp) and is very gear dependent, but has access to the best physical dps buff in the game. However, gear choices are simplified by the Surefooted talent and Lightning Reflexes. Once you get your 8.6% hit chance buff (only need 5.6% because of talents), Agility is maxed over every other stat. This is because it scales higher with Lightning Reflexes, Blessing of Kings, and increases the Expose Weakness buff. I've been able to put out some mad dps with gear upgrades and talents, but the best part is that SV buffs ALL physical dps in the raid, not just in a group. I'll keep running SV unless someone else in the guild wants to give it a real try and is willing to re-enchant and re-gem for agility (i see one sv hunter as a necessity in 25-mans). current talent build is:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=cZE0fRVzZcG0GucMhqub
This has some pvp talents chosen, and can be optimized for pve by maxing Expose Weakness, Resourcefulness, and investing some in Trap Mastery and Improved Feign Death."

If you like your current set-up however I would suggestto either drop Trueshot Aura for Expose Weakness, as that is a much better talent for raids because it buffs every physical dps class in the raid, and not just your party. If youa re goin for pvp though then drop some of the talents in Survival and grab Silencing shot, it is a great talent for pvp, and will help u kill those pesky paladin's.

Hope this helps!

The BM raid cookie cutter still scores me a lot of kills in BGs. Give me a priest, and I feel like I can take on 4 or 5 others, haha.

Never tried it for arena, though. But the BM Cookie cutter is top DPS for raids, and your pet gets really nasty in BGs.

The cookie-cutter BM raid build sucks really bad for arenas. I've tried. Our only ohsht button is intimidation, but that can't be used often enough, and sometimes it needs to be used on a player that the pet isn't on.

As for the OPs build... I've seen it in action before. I liked having the hunter who had it in my group for 25 man raids because of TSA, but even when I didn't get his TSA, I way out-DPSed him, and we have/had very similar gear.

For PvP, it's probably not going to get you very far since, jerkfacee said, you miss out on a lot of key talents by going hybrid like that.

So, instead of starting a new thread, here is my PvP related question. The FAQ doesn't list any straight PvP builds, so for those of you who PvP, what spec (or talents) are you using and why?

I want to start PvPing on my hunter since she isn't gonna raid anytime soon. I will be in the BGs, arena, and world PvP.

Thanks in advance.

My personal favourite is MM though, although its a lot harder to play right.

I play PvP mostly on my Hunter now. BG's and Arena. Just picked up enough points yesterday to buy the S3 AXE... WOOT!

As MM, I do best in BG's where I can find a niche and blast from range. If I have a very kind healer to help me, yeah, we mow down a lot of targets. If I am by myself in a target rich environment, like any other class, I don't live long. Just too much CC from other players to be effective when pinned down by a lot of people.

A hunters strength comes from their own skills but also from their support. A good arena team with a good plan and decent reflexes can do well in the arena and the hunter can survive. A marginal to poor team and the hunter is either the first or second target swapping with the healer for the #1 spot. If the other side lets the hunter live too long, it can easily spell doom for their healer and clothies. The ranged CC and DPS is hard to match. I like MM in the Arena but it seems gear weighs more heavily than spec as does PvP skill. Spec almost takes a back seat to how good your team is, then again, that could be said for everything about the arena. Maybe priority would look something like this, but it's just a first WAG at it:

Team Ability > Gear > Personal Ability > Spec

I'll let others chime in on their thoughts as to priority.

So hunter is a great PvP class but be prepared to be a target no matter what spec you are and expect to be high on the hit list! If you don't like being a constant target, you need to be a Paladin. Nobody likes chewing on them first.
