natures swiftness + mana tideFollow

#1 Feb 07 2008 at 6:45 PM Rating: Decent
quick question, im a resto shammy, just hit 30. does natures swiftness work with healing spells? curious if i should put a point into it. if it does i will if not it doesn't seem to be worth it. dunno if healing counts as nature spells

also, once i get mana tide totem.. is there any point to ever use the regular mana totem ever again? seems like mana tide is superior in every way

Yes, healing spells are considered to be nature spells and thus benefit from Nature's Swiftness.

In fact, most people use Nature's Swiftness almost exclusively for an instant heal with Healing Wave. Having an instant heal every 3 minutes is pretty nice, but so can an instant Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning, especially when used with Elemental Mastery from Elemental spec.

It can also be used with Ghost Wolf for an Insta-Wolf, a favorite trick of mine in BGs.

I'll leave the Mana Tide question to someone else since I've never specced Resto.

You will still use the mana spring totem still, since mana tide is on a 5 minute cool down. When I was leveling as resto in the early 60's, I would lay down a mana spring and a searing totem, and flameshock/ melee the mobs to death. Once I got around 400 spell damage it became easier to just lightning bolt.
I used mana tide usually during long boss battles, or just in grinding to go a little longer without drinking.

we would never run out of mana if that was case lol...

we also would be required to have mana tide if that where the case, it is too OP without a cooldown

They are two of the three best talents in the resto tree, with Earth Shield being the third. Get them. No question.

Nature's Swiftness is used for the second-best instaheal in the game, but you can also use it on ghost wolf (good for flag running) or lightning or chain lightning (extra burst damage). The only things it doesn't work on is astral recall and ancestral spirit.
