PvP gear for PvE healingFollow

There are many PvP pieces that help fill out a tanking set in large part of the +35 resillience bonus given with two pieces. I'm wondering which (if any) PvP pieces are worthwhile for a resto druid working through Kara. (Please note that 'no' is a perfectly good answer as it will let me devote my honor and marks to my tanking gear. But I just wanted to check).

Thanks

I'm not sure how good of a practice it is, but I use some PvP gear for PvE healing. The arena S3 head and chest, along with the S2 shoulders and the veteran's bracers were items I didn't replace in Kara.

All of them. Seriously, there's no point to Kara loot if you're willing to PvP.

Wouldn't an all PvP set severly gimp you in longer fights? It completely lacks spirit and lags behind in MP5, so you'll go Oom very quickly, I'd think. Also, PvP healing gear doesn't provide a legitimate healing bonus (+35 resillence for 2 and shapeshifting bonus for 4).

Maybe for the S1 gear it's not much better but the S2+ gear is definitely better than Kara loot (with the exception of the prince ring and the neck off nightbane). In fact it's better than most stuff out of SSC/TK and even better than some BT stuff. The main reasons are that mp5 > spirit and that higher ilvl makes up for anything wasted on resilience. Also, the extra stamina is nice because a lot of fights involve taking damage.

The 2 piece T4 bonus is pretty nice though, every other set bonus is crap.

I quit raiding half way through SSC/TK. I had 2 piece T4, 1 piece T5, and most of the rest was S2 PvP gear (if I were starting raiding now I'd use all S3 and no T4/T5). Mana was NEVER an issue. Not even close. It was rare for me to use even 1 mana pot during a whole raid night. There were plenty of fights where I would consistently innervate other players instead of me.

In general, PvP gear lags behind PvE gear by 1 tier for PvE purposes. So S3 gear is slightly better than T5 but worse than T6, S2 gear is slightly better than T4 but worse than T5, etc. S3 gear has been available for some time now so unless you hate PvP it's just not worth raiding anything less than BT/Hyjal for loot.

Its true that most of the pvp gear is superior to most of the gear out of kara especially S2 and above.

The main thing id like to point out is there are several pieces of kara gear that will last you along while and also you get badge of justice from running kara and the new badge loot is far superior in most cases to the pvp gear for raid healing. The pants from badge loot are only replaced by T5 along with the cloth gloves.

The T4 helm can last you a while off of prince also lights justice and the jade ring from prince.

Also the new vindicators gear for pvp is far superior to stuff out of kara such as the neck, boots, ring, and belt vindicators.

Ya can get to 225/5 mana/5 and at least 1,700 healing with the S1 set and still have 9,000 health and mana, plus crit immunity and 15K or so in Bear Form armor. I dunno why you'd waste your time on Kara with S1 available.
