Engineering ThreatFollow

Are engineering toys (i.e. grenades, rockets, etc...) good at generating threat?

Also, can someone please let me know what the threat modifier would be for these?

The reason I ask is that I leveled tailoring & enchanting. Now, I'm ready to dump tailoring (maxed out ench), and need another prof. I have another toon with Mining who will supply me most mats. So I thought maybe Engineering would be fun to try. In looking at some of the toys, there are some sweet weapons (like The Bigger One). I'm just curious if they are useful for generating threat while tanking.

Thanks.

EDIT - The Bigger One is not ranged...so I deleted the word "ranged". Also, I would not be using these all the time. It just seems like it could probably help out in sticky situations.

As far as I know, most of the engi stuff genreates aggro like normal dmg. However, I'm not sure. But engi is great for PvP and PvE... It helped me alot when lvling. But I really never used any of them as a tank aggro generating tool.

the explosives work for pulls, when you wanna agro a large group and have some threat on the whole group.

As far as I know, and researched, just like when you white damage, it's just damage dealt equals threat (with stance modifiers, etc...).

So if you crit a group for ~1500k, while in defensive stance, 2% threat chant on gloves, and defiance, you should get a good amount of threat.

I too think they generate threat like normal attacks with only your class modifiers/ enchantment modifiers for added threat. That being said: if the stun on a bomb actually stuns the mob I think you add quite some threat to that mob. If you are multitanking mobs it is just a bonus to throw a good bomb right where you stand for some added threat every minute. It will help a bit and I think it won't hurt you in any way (not minding cash).

I always use bombs in addition to my pally tanking for fun mainly but the extra AoE damage also helps. It might even be used (but you have to be handy with hotkeying and quick-targetting them correctly) to pull back a mob that heads for someone that pulled aggro from you. (assuming they stop causing aggro right away)

i tend to pull with my rocket launcher, 1200 dmg is a nice threat start.

i dnt tend to use bombs apart from the ice nade to save healers incase of emergency.

Thanks all for the input. I think I'm gonna give it a shot, and see what happens. Engineering gizmos just look like fun toys too :)

45-50 yards i believe.

Also, new engineering armor schematics [mainly the upgradeable helmets] available from trash drops in sunwell in 2.4

yeh it has a massive range, when i was in UB i could use it on the big bog lords before they agro'd and they have a huge agro radius

6 second cast time makes it not very OP at all.

Cooldown?

Yeah, the CD is 2 minutes and the range is 45 yards. Easily my favorite trinket ever. It's great to pull with when you have the time. It typically hits for 1k+, although I question the stance modifier on the damage. Perhaps it's just that Omen miscalculates, but I typically see my threat equal to the damage caused by the rocket.

It can not be overpowered if anyone can get it. Just get that engineering going, baby, trust me it is great all across the board!

A lot of the engineering toys can only be used by an engineer. I say this because you mention you will be replacing tailoring with engineering.

Did you have tailoring on your warrior? If not, make sure the toys you like can be used by a non-engineer.

If so, well that's a whole 'nother can-o-peas.
