Yes, well I am contemplating switching from my level 38 troll shaman to a warrior (still desiding on race) but anyway I am looking for the class that can PvP effectivly, excellent melee damage, and when need be step back and just sorta throw in something ranged now I want to know if I am barking up the wrong tree. I am also the kind of person who loses his temper and sometimes just wants to rush in and kill somebody, so I want to know if the warrior is the right classs for me or if i should go back to my shaman. I will also not roll a rogue because there are too many of them.

PS I am mainly just trying different classes out I have had the game for about 3 months now and I think that warriors of look cool with their charges and supposeldly amazing dps

and you think there is not an abundance of warriors?

Stick with Shaman, plus you can heal yourself. Or roll a hunter (also a saturated market)

You cant step back and range attack, ranged weps are usually for pulling and dont provide a good bit of damage.

Fury does good damage with a two hander, DW is difficult until almost outlands due to all the missing, so if you like the looks of it and sometimes lose your temper, well fury two handed.

PVP effectively -- pretty much yes
excellent melee dmg - fury can almost get you up to that of a rogue, sometimes called rippers, rogues in plate.
Ranged - no, for a pull, but thats it

Honestly, I started and deleted a warrior at LEAST 5 different times, trying different names and races, and kept deleting them, couldnt get into them. Tried a human one, gnome one, dwarf one, Nelf one, and finally a dre (alliance abviously)

So, finally started a dre one and stuck with it, now I cant put him down! And they get stronger at higher levels. And even without the hit gear and all advise against it I have been DW fury all the way and LOVE it, good to have blues, if you can get runs through dungeons as you level, which I have and keep up with the gear, warriors are VERRRRY gear dependant particularly fury, so expect runs, alot of instances or spending time and money in the AH IF you want to keep on top of the damage. Hell even in my 20s I had gotten enchants on my weps and armour, and continue to do so, someting I rarely eve did with my other toons, including my main, til he hit 70 and started gearing up.

Remember, you get some unique things with the shammy at 40, so you may want to at least get him/her there, you can wear mail then too.

Well, it never hurts to try. I would suggest you to roll a warrior. I for one love the feeling rushing someone, and smashing a big 2h mace in their face. I also love their endurance due to plate armor and hp pool.

However, it takes some time to get to know a warrior's playstyle.

So get my shammy to level 40 then make a warrior get him to level 40 and compare
PS I tried being a paladin but I wasnt killing stuff I had a really hard time dying but it was even harder trying to kill something then I tried a druid and it was kinda fun but i lost interest at level 16 then came the shaman and I leveled him to 38 then during a run in uldaman i relized that when there is already a prot warrior in the group he gets to dps while i stand back and heal and let me tell you healing for me is only fun if I am a paladin. After showing my dad wow i realized that warriors were not half bad but I wanted to post here before making that decision

My very first toon was a pally, so let me say Im all about dps on EVERYTHING, lol, love tanking and do love the mad loot I can get from AOE farming at 70, and glad I have one at 70, but do love dps.

I would say thats a good strategy, at least see how the shammy is with the 40 talent, the new mail gear, I assume you are enhancement, and roll a warrior, like I said, after deleting 5 I am now hooked, I think race had a lot to do with it for me. But at least stick it out to mid 20s so you can get some levels under your belt and start picking up some killer talent, remember STAY UP ON THE GEAR particularly the weps!

FOr me Ill tank, but Ill never, well never is strong, but rarely heal, dont like it, not for me, some love it, and perhaps one day I will realize the challenges of healing and embrace it on another toon, but that day is not today.

My mage was the same, if I hadnt started playing with someone else he would have stayed at 25, once I got to higher levels, it just really pwns all for me, I dont mean others, but just the fun playing it. Hunter, eh, might finish one, their easy, lock I am close to 50 now so I will play him til 70...

Druid, I have to agree, never got into it, almost deleted it but decided not to as it may become fun later on like the others its just a matter of getting through that dying all the time and weak early level phase, but if you dont take onto much and play smart, most of the classes would be ok. Actually hate totems, I know they are great and groups love them, but in solo play I forget to put totems down, Im bad like that LOL, I know it doesnt take but a couple of seconds, but to remain in the range of them and such I prefer duration buffs and auras that stay with me, plus I felt like I was littering LOL

Or since you are trying different classes, roll one of each, play mostly with your main and a main alt, ie shammy and warrior, and off and on try the other classes, they level pretty quick to get a decent feel for them to 20 or so. Just be careful of altitus as you do want to focus on one or at the most two so you can raid or gear up in instances, heroics and such which takes alot of time when you hit 70.

So yeah, get the shammy to 40 and see, try the warrior nothing wrong with that, just like I said, at least get up there mid to late 20s even 30 or more 40 to see and then roll them both the rest of the way. or shelve one and try another

FOr you its melee, and I love melee too. I think having a shammy and warrior, you cant go too wrong there.

first of all,i completely diagree with spicey. there will never be enough warriors (on my server) becuz groups always need tanks and healers and there never seem to be enough. its easy to find 3 dpsers, but everyone knows that tanks and healers r the hardest to come by. dont worry about there being too many warriors.
next, warriors dont ranged dps. i always have a bow/gun on me with good stats just to bosst them a bit and help with pulling mobs. unless ur rooted or frozen in place, u shood never use ranged to dps if melee is another option.
ive already had a 7- warrior and am making my second one (long story). theyre my kinda class. theyre great at pvp (especially arms with MS), do great dps if u dont spec prot, and if u love nonstop fighting kinda style theyre just for u. wen im soling, unless i have to drink or bandage cuz of low health, its charge, rend, w.e else i do, targets dead, find next target and charge, repeat. no waiting on mana. i also love the looks of warriors, and since im a tauren i think it looks even cooler.
anyway thats just my 2 cents and i wood recommend atleast giving the warrior a try.

In low levels 'tanks' and 'warriors' aren't the same thing. There are too many 'warriors' out there ('warriors being the "LOLE DEE PEE EZZ IZ TEH OLNY PHUN TING 2 DOO" ones) and at the same time not nearly enough tanks.

I hope you know Rend is quite useless, unless you do it because you want the dmg bonus from Blood Frenzy. Even then, Rend isn't worth the rage

i use rend becuz of the blood frenzy, and becuz if i havent executed and i still have a good amount of rage then it always helps

what?

blood frenzy is a RAID talent that greatly complements RAID dps. increased 4% to your dps when fighting against a normal mob that bleeds is a waste of talent points and poor dps compared to this MS build at level 53 or at the very least this 2h fury build with 2/2 imp slam (which is probably the better build now that i think about it). if a mob manages to stay alive for 8-10 minutes like a raid boss does, then blood frenzy becomes useful. in the ~10 seconds it takes for you to kill a normal mob, what does blood frenzy tick for? assuming an average 194 damage from ice barbed spear (not taking into account any buffs or debuffs, i'm at work, don't have time to flesh this out), that's an extra 8 damage every time you connect. whoopdeedoo.

rend after level 20, and blood frenzy for midlevel dps = fail
