What if they just took the positional requirement away?

I mean, who says I can't stick both my daggers into you from the front and mess up your internal organs just as well?

Now that made me laugh, but mut is in need of a buff, the only reason I don't take it in PvP now is because of the stupid positional requirement and immobility.

As ShS I am on the mage 90% of the time, as mut...I get a 3 sec burst then I am kited.

Well, assuming blizz doesnt implement 51 point talents, I'm looking at 41/30/0 with dagger spec and BF, or 41/0/30 with Dirty Deeds, Prep, Serrated blades, and Deadliness.

Take away the poison requirement and buff the instant damage slightly, and BAM!

Mutilate will pwn again.

I enjoyed Mut spec in BGs. Sure I didn't always get the most kills, but then again the battle ground isn't about just me anyhow.
I don't know if its frowned upon in the Rogue community but I usually just stayed stealthed until a target of opportunity came by. Like a clothie? Is that what mages are called? Well, thats when I would attack a Mage or a Priest. Sometimes I had to think about attacking the Warlock though. They can be pretty big pests.

In closing. I liked Mut spec in BGs. Though I only attacked clothies by myself, I would wait for another person to attack like a Warrior then I would use my cooldowns on that warrior. Like Cold Blood. I liked that attack.

I'd fight a warlock over a mage any day of the week (as long as my trinket is up).

It really won't. There's no problem with the poison requirement, nor the positional requirement. It's mobility that's killing the rogue class in arena, and that's what needs to be fixed.

A buff to the damage/positional requirements (i.e. increasing in the former, removing in the latter) won't fix mut's viability.

It would make rogues better in 5s, though.

Suggestion:
Replace Improved Kidney Shot by "Swiftness: reduces all movement impairing effects (duration & amount) on you by 25/50/75%".

Nah, change FF to that.

Imp KS is a huge part of shatter combos on RM 2s teams.

Theo - you said that improving the damage and removing positional req's would NOT improve mut's viability? I am pretty sure that is the definition of improving the spec - more damage, and damage in the face. How does this not improve mutilate? I am still mut and would enjoy it just to get rid of that 'must be behind your target' msg I get on mobile bosses or when our tank needs to kite.

If you can't stay behind your target when the tank is kiting, you have more issues than the positional requirement of muti.

It may help in PvE, but mut isn't intended as a PvE build.

Mut's problem is mobility in PvP. That's not something easily fixed.

BTW, if you can't get behind a boss in raids, you should stop raiding. Your tanks should hate you for getting parries.

If you don't know why, you shouldn't be raiding either.

Basically what we're looking for is:

• Rogues are now immune to all movement impairing effects.

Seikun said yesterday that the reason mut used to pwn is because its awesome burst damage made up for it's lack of mobility.

How about buff Fleet-Footed to include 25/50% snare resistance, but move it down the tree so people basically have to spec muti to make it worth getting fleet-footed?

Yeah except in BC, STAM scaling and RESIL kind of nips Mut's best features.

Still though, buffing Mutilate will probably end up encouraging DPS gimp teams.

No, resil has the same effect on mut as any other ability.

Seal Fate is effected by resil, but at the same time so is Sinister Calling.
