You can grind honor in BGs to get the Season 1 arena gear.

I don't know which gear you're talking about that gives the spell pushback protection. Do you know the name of it?

yeah im not sure how to link things but the set is called gladiator's thunderfist and its an arena reward when you get the full set it gives your lightning bolt spell a 70% chance to reist interuption im assuming it just gives yer lit bolt a 70% chance of not gettin pushed back when ye take damage much like yer healin spells after talents

You can get that gear by grinding BGs for honor.

The gear is decent, but it's not optimal for PVE. If you plan on doing more PVP than PVE, it is well worth grinding for.

If you plan on doing more PVE than PVP you will need a set of PVE gear and a set of PVP gear.

The Gladiator's Thunderfist is available with regular honor points you gain in BGs. The next tier of PvP gear is the Merciless Gladiator gear and that can only be obtained thru arena points. The first set is referred to as S1 (for Season 1) and the second S2. They both have the same set bonus, but slightly different stats and a different look.

It's worth noting that in patch 2.4. S2 is supposed to become available for honor only like S1 is now. Might be worth waiting...

They're making S2 available for honor in 2.4? They just made S1 available in late November. I haven't even finished getting all the S1 gear on my rogue, and now I have to do the same honor grind again? It seems kind of soon for that.

Though I can't wait to do it on my Elemental Shammy(63 btw). Along with the changes to DR I can sit in an AV turtle and Chain Lightning all day.

Season 4 is not starting with the 2.4 patch.

Season 4 will probably not start until WotLK.

Season 3 has only been going on for a couple months.

Average arena season has been around 5.5 months thus far.

So either S4 starts with WotLK, or it starts in a few months, and S5 starts with WotLK at level 80.

"at lvl 70 can i jump right into arena pvp"
Yes you can jump right in wearing the crappiest greens you can find.
What I mean is you will lose, but even if you lose you will get points. Combine this with BG honor and you will be grinding out your gear more quickly. I would not wait til you are 'ready' for arena, just get in there and get some points.

Cheers!

Assuming you can grind 1000 honor/hour it will take you 206 hours to grind out the honor for all 15 pieces of PVP gear for an ele shaman.

One more word of advice.

Get the spell damage mace first as it can be difficult to find a weapon with as much spell damage as that mace has.

You can also start an arena team and start earning points towards the S2 spell damage shield since S1 did not offer a spell damage shield.

I mentioned earlier that 2.4 is supposed to make S2 available for honor. I want to make sure it's understood that I've not anywhere seen that actually written by a Blizzard employee, but it does seem to be common knowledge among some of the more well-informed.

Aforementioned well-informed individuals seem to believe that patch 2.4 will be out in mid-April, making note that the patch has not hit the live test servers yet and will need time for testing.

So figure 3 weeks to a month before it hits live, and 4 to 6 weeks of testing and it makes sense.

So whether waiting and saving up honor to spend on S2 gear is worth it depends I guess. 2 months is more than enough time to get S2 with Arena Points. None of it will matter anyhow when WotLK comes out...

I had heard that rare (blue) PvP gear was coming to rep vendors. I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere that S2 was coming to the honor grind, though if that is the case then the honor/mark prices on the S1 gear is likely to drop. And if that's the case then I would still go for the S1 gear. You could get it much faster, and then you can just arena grind for the Vengeful gear.

one of the best things to do when gearing a new 70 for pvp is to just try and get 10 arena games in per week. even if you lose all ten you still get points, and you get valuable practice working in arena. you can then use the arena points to supplement your honor gain with s2 and s3 gear.

essentially youre drawing from two resources at once to obtain pvp gear. saves a lot of time and heartache rather than grinding 206k honor for all the s1+vindicators items.
