Smiley: lol

I knew I could count on you, Bodhi.

This is the spec from friend of mine that plays. I keep telling him he needs to decide on a role and go all out with it. He refuses and continues to think that being able to do all three, dps, tank and heal, is the way to go. Ugggh.

I've never played a pally and have no idea about their abilities and specs. I don't know what's good and bad and what's really that viable. It's a foreign language to me. I don't know where to start to give him specific tips for improvement.

I do know that he shouldn't be out-tanked and out-dpsed by my prot warrior and out-healed by my spriest.

It's going to be interesting when he hits 70.

Normally I do but I got the info directly from the armory. I'm too lazy to transfer the info over to wowhead (unless there's an easy one-click method of doing so). If you're too lazy to respond I'm fine with that. I completely understand. Smiley: grin

It's really hard to convince people their spec is not what's best. We had a hunter in my guild that had a crappy spec and refused to change, and when we threatened him with his raid spot and forced him to change, he finally did. (and his DPS went up, and he liked the new spec, who woulda guessed!)

Your best idea might be to get him to install a damage/healing meter, so that he has visual "proof" on his screen of how bad he's doing...

If that doesn't work a tack hammer to the temple should work as well. He might even forget all bout the spec

and the class and the game and his friends, family, and loved ones, but still worth it!

Oh it's not just his spec but his gear (again I'm not pally savy) as well.

I don't think he cares about dmg/heal meters. I've tried a couple of times to talk to him about it. He believes he needs to stick to the jack-of-all trades mentality without realizing just how much he's gimped himself by doing so.

I do think if he respecced and regeared with the intention of filling a specific role he'd have more fun and be an asset to groups/raids.

Maybe when I group with him I'll start posting dmg meters all the time. Try to pound it into him a little more.

Like I said it's going to be interesting when he hits 70 and I hope it hits him like a ton of bricks. He's never played anything but a pally and I think that's part of it as well. He isn't really aware of what the class is capable of. Either he'll start to figure it out or else he'll be stuck soloing.

For his sake, and everyone he groups with, I hope so too. I died a little inside seeing that spec :(

It's one thing to keep a complete set of gear for an off spec in case you need to fill a different role (like I keep a healing set around to off heal from time to time), but consciously catering to all 3 roles will severely gimp your ability to preform any of them at any level of the game worth mentioning. All 3 trees? Not filling out talents? He's probably got a third "of the Soldier", a third "of the Physician", and a third "of the Champion" gear right?

I'm just curious, is there any class in WoW where players benefit by choosing their talents in such an a la carte fashion?

This doesn't seem like an exclusively pally-related problem to me. If I inspected someone and saw something like this distribution superimposed over the Druid trees or the Warlock trees, I think I'd be equally suspicious....

Rogues benefitted from an 11/28/22 spec for a while. Before the recent hemo nerf.
