What would you suggest I do here?Follow

I need some advice on what I plan on doing at lvl 40

Currently I am a lvl 35 BM spec'd hunter.Once I hit lvl 40 I plan on going through the instance in the Deadmines, more commonly known as VC.

-I am currently a lvl 115 Enchanter.
-I need gold for my mount and new mail items once I hit 40.

What to do with my items?
a) Go through the mines repeatedly and disenchant all items I come across(or sell the blues DE greens?), use these items to lvl up my enchanting. Then once I get past lvling up my enchanting i will start to sell any blue that I come across and DE any greens to sell
b) Do constant VC runs and profit in anyway possible, by selling blues and DE greens I am guessing, until I am quite happy with my mount/equips. Then once I get that I will continue doing some more runs until I surpass the strange dust/magic essence enchantment area.
c)A combination of both, split up DE mats and sell Blue. 1/2 my DE mats will go to lvling enchantment while the other will go to profitting.

*I am leaning towards either B or C. B seems to make the most sense, better equips=easier/faster runs

What pet will I need?
-Currently Have the pet Washte Pawne, a wind serpent, and an owl from the NE starting locale (my owl is lvl 25 <_<)

a)just use my wind serpent
b) grab a mistvale gorilla , that AoE move should be pretty good for the pulls I will make in VC.
c) pick me up a Snapjaw turtle, it's high def will make these runs much simpler and safer.

Ok I really need to ask this after all this typing, am I thinking this through to much?

All right, that is all my questions. Or is it?(C WHAT I DID THAR!)0

D. Pick up a gathering craft as your second trade skill and use that to fund your enchanting.

However if you want to run the instance repeatedly, I would d/e everything but BoE blues.

As for the pet, I'd say owl or a boar.

Pick up mining.
then go run VC to level both mining and enchanting (DE greens, sell BoE blues, de BoE greens) and also run around the human newbie zones a couple times to gather ore.
Copper sells for 2g-2.5g per stack on my server, and getting1 stack is really easy.
Its quick and effective and gives loads of cash.

oh, and pray that not many of your greens e insto small shards, those are worth less then strange dust...

As for the pet: owls, carrion birds and bats are nice to have for their Screech ability. It is an AoE threat generator, making it easier to mend pet now and then without having all the adds on your back immediately.

Might I suggest you go and run Shadowfang Keep repeatedly? Just try a few rounds.. there are a lot of ok drops for the 19 twink range in there... they sell like crazy (Shadowfang and Assassin's Blade at the top of your list).

You should:

1)Not run VC now at all. It doesnt get you xp, and you'll have an easier time with it at 40 (and still get no XP). Thats if you want to do it for $.

2)I'm not an enchanter, but I can tell you if you plan on DEing items to level, then do VC now til you can no longer level your enchant via VC greens. Not sure if DEing ever has a "grey". If not then DE away I guess... But DEFINITELY sell BoE blues.

He's right. Better BoE blues than VC. Least on my server.

4)Get a Cat/Raptor. I'm a firm believer that every BM hunter needs a DPS pet (Cat/Raptor/Ravager). Running low lvls like this doesn't require you to get a turtle (doesn't hold aggro well for me = not a good tank for me) because the decrease is DPS slows down your runs. Sure the turt takes less dmg, but how much dmg reduction do you need in VC/SFK? Its not like you're going to aggro the entire spiral staircase and AoE everything.

I forgot to mention, I have skinning at lvl 260 at the moment.

So the basic Idea is to do Shadowfang runs with a DPS pet like a raptor (I have been wanting to get one).Any blue that is BoE sell but if it is BoP then I should go ahead and DE to sell/lvl like the greens I will find.

*I was not sure If i could get through VC once I am lvl 40, this is my first character to get past lvl 23 and I wasn't sure how hard/easy it would be.

Thanks for the help.

DE all items save those you can wear and those Blues with highly specialized stats i.e. those very suitable for a particular class. Blues such as plate with SPI are junk and will never sell, while the shards/dust will sell and never requires a deposit on the AH. I'm still following this philosophy at 70th level, sending greens/blues to an alt with enchanting to DE, except for the very rare Blue which has a sale price enough above the shard price to make AHing it worthwhile. And those are very few and far between. You'll make plenty of Golds and will also have enough enchanting mats on hand to have your gear enchanted any time you chose.

And Aethien's advice re: mining is very sound. Before the Horde could have Paladins and I wanted to try the class, my Human Paladin was my richest alt simply due to the fact that while running around doing the standard quests I collected enough copper ore to sell to fund all my bags, AH upgrades, etc. and still had plenty of Golds left over despite not being able to mail this char Golds from my main.

Edit based on your last post: Mining will make you much more than skinning will. Even dropping skinning now will still make you more Golds in the long run.

WAIT! Did you say plate items? Hunters don't get to wear plate, even at forty. We get to wear mail then.

my bad, I knew it was mail that would be a typo xD.

Best leveling tanking pet in my opinion? Boar. Dash/charge/bite/gore is some tasty intro aggro. Means you can burn down mobs faster which means farming is faster. Plus they have 4% more HP and 9% more armor, again the best stats for a tank pet as far as I an tell. Their -10% to DPS is offset immediately by their dash charge bite gore combo.
Sadly I have had to place Butternuts on permanent disability since hitting 70 but alas, there is a time soon coming (WotLK) where he will be my favorite again.

Here is the build I would have to farm at level 40.

And as far as DE'ing greens, make sure your stacks of strange dust cost more hen the items you are DE'ing. Generally I DE wrist, hand, feet, necklace, rings but sell weapons, chest, legs since they tend to be worth more then dust.
If your economy supports high priced low level disenchants by all means DE everything (except BOE blues =)

As a skinner, also consider running Wailing Caverns. Depending on your server, Perfect Deviate Scales may be in demand for the twink belt. Also, in my experience, there is a good drop rate on greens in WC.

as for money, dont blow your cash on buying new mail gear at 40, just stick to what you find and/or get form quests.
As a hunter you wont need to have the best possible gear all the time to level efficiently. its better to save up the cash and use it on the mount and later the epic mount at 60.
Leveling up to 60 is so fast nowdays that its easy to be short on cash when its time for the 2nd mount.

The fast leaveling pace also makes buying gear more or less throwing gold in the lake since whatever you buy will soon be outdated anyways.

SFK is the spot. Especially if you have skinning. To bad you're not a pally. My friends 70 prot pally does it in three pulls with me there to skin and we each make around 45-50G/hr luaghably easy even if none of those awesome BoE blues in there drop. Just throw out everything that isn't BoE, cloth, or leather and hit the AH. Can do it for a few days before the market on all of it starts to drop then we just wait a couple of weeks.

As far as I know, there are no BOE blues that drop in the Deadmines though I suppose there is always the chance of a world drop item. Deadmines is fantastic for Wool if that sells well on your server.

WC is great for skinning and there are a lot of BOP blues to DE but the enchanting mats that level aren't worth a whole lot on my server. You'd probably get more money from selling the leather and deviate scales.

SFK and BFD are the lowest instances that have a good chance of a BOE blue drop item that only drops in that instance. Many of these items are considered twink items and have a good resale value. RFK is another instance you might be able to handle at 40 if you are very careful with your pulling.

Shop the AH for good deals on level 37-40 mail items. The upper 30s level items often go for less as most Warriors won't spend the money on upgrading mail when they want to upgrade to plate at 40. Shopping ahead means that you feel less pressure to overspend. Also you might want to research which quests will give you decent starter mail and work on getting those quests done.

Another way to get gold is to take up fishing and go to the places where Oily Blackmouth is found. It usually sells for 1-2gold a stack on my server and sometimes even more. Deviate Fish are another fish that sell easily though you will usually get a much higher price on Alliance side than on Horde side. Firefin Snapper sells decently well as well. When you get your fishing to higher levels you can start finding Stonescale Eel which sells very well.
