Next Tuesday I'll be getting my hands on a season3 main hander. Maces seems an obvious choice even though I'm subtlety spec if I ever choose to go into a combat based spec for PvP I will have the right kind of weapon available.
But is that something that's even going to happen?
I cannot bring myself to even entertain the idea of going back into combat spec for PvPing. I don't even have improved gouge.
But there is also the fact that 100% of the Rogues I have seen with s3 weapons are dualing maces, regardless of spec. Maybe everyone knows something I don't.
I am aware of the damage difference between the swords and maces, but seeing as they share the same DPS having different damage ranges would not matter too much. (not to mention that the minimum damage on the s3 main hander is LESS than the minimum damage on my s1 sword)
Is there another reason to pick maces over swords that I just have not thought of, or is there some math that can prove the damage superiority of the maces? (I am just trying to find a way to keep myself from having to run around with those giant orange energy flower bouquets that blizzard thinks look like maces)
Also, a thought occurred to me while pondering my weapon dilemma, without a weapon spec there is no reason (other than symmetry) to not use the absolute fastest weapon in my offhand. I am, of course, referring to the s3 offhand dagger. Would a main hand s3 sword and an offhand s3 dagger be so terribly wrong?
My mind is almost entirely made up but any time I have questions that require this magnitude of thought I find it is better to bounce my ideas off of someone else to see if they are doable. And who better than the Rogue community here?
So, in summation:
1) mace > swords even with out weapon spec?
2) dagger in the offhand nets a .1 speed increase, seemingly no downside. right?
Thanks in advance.
