Someone linked to an interesting post last week about the perils of grinding Cenarion Rep that included the counterintuitive advice to not do the Cenarion quests right away.

My druid, first post-60 toon, just stepped into Zangarmarsh last night. Now, I'd like to tank end game with him, but frankly he's not guilded and is financing an army of alts who are leveling with various friends who got into the game recently. So I'd like to get him to 70 quickly and worry that skipping those Zangarmarsh quests for a while will gimp his leveling.

So my question to you vets is whether it's worth it for me to put off questing and just grind plant parts for a while, or whether earthwarden is a basically incremental thing that I can worry about once I've dinged 70, found a good guild and enjoyed epic flight form.

Buy bunch of plants in AH if you can, turn them all in until honored, you should receive at least few rare specimens, which are 500 rep per turn in. After that you can start questing.

If I were you get as many unidentified plant parts as you can. I believe 360 is the max if you don't have any rep with Cenarion Expedition. If you don't want to spend the time / money to get them, do the instances. They're a great way to level, gain rep, gain armor, and some money. Plus when you go back to 70 and do those Cenarion quests, you'll get rep AND a lot of money from each quest. I'm actually leveling my druid without doing any quests lol, just straight instances. It may be slower to level, but it's great in the long run; I can do quests to get a lot more money as a 70 and rep for after the honored stage, and I can keep improving on my tanking skillz. And when I'm doing the instances all the way to 70, at least I'll have some nice blues and rep items instead of greens to start out with in the 70 instances. Earthwarden is damn nice, and I want to get it as fast as I can lol.

BTW, when you turn in the plants and get an uncatologued plant species, SAVE THEM! Don't use them until you're honored. You can use those after honored, but you can't use the actual plant parts after honored, so saving as many uncatalogued species as you can is good, although the drop rate sucks on turning them in lol. But they're 500 rep a piece. So use them after honored.

Hope this helped =)

Thanks all, I suppose I'll start running slave pens ....I will say the first two Outland instances got me back into the dungeons after the nightmare of pugging ST, so this hopefully won't be as painful as it sounds.

In my humble opinion, if you can fairly easily get groups to slave pens
and underbog, don't bother too much with plant parts. At least if you are
strapped with cash, forget the AH.

Instance grind is really something you have to get used to for faction rep :)
so just do SP/UB until you are honored/sick and tired/hit ~65, then go Terokkar or
Nagrand and continue grinding Steam vaults once you hit ~68. You might not want to
tank it at first tho, but with a good healer it is possible :)

Good luck.

If nothing else, the gear in the instances is really nice to have while leveling and makes things easier when soloing. The more instancing you can do while leveling in Outlands the better. It means you will have more zones left to quest and receive full gold rewards for (11g a quest normally).

My priest just hit 70 in Nagrand, so I have the rest of Nagrand and all of Blade's Edge, Netherstorm & SMV to go - should keep me in gold for a month or two :)
