Hurray for Spell PushbackFollow

#1 Feb 04 2008 at 1:31 PM Rating: Default
So this weekend I was in AB and I encountered a hunter. Now previously before this I was reading about spell pushback on the wow forums and how it hurt the mage class the most.

So I decided to see how long it would take me to cast a frostbolt. Now I was under the assumption that after a certain amount of time I would be able to cast my spell no matter how many things were attacking me, but I was wrong.

The hunter started to attack me and then he set off his snake trap and I somehow aggro it and all the snakes started to attack me. So all in all it took me 22 seconds to try and cast a frostbolt before I died.

P.S. I was getting healed.

Rank 1 arcane explosion > snake trap. But I agree spell pushback is terrible, especially for the mage class above all others.

Yup, nothing more frustrating that trying to get a nuke off with a hunter attached to your face.

Except if it's a maces rogue.

Or a shaman.

But mostly hunters.

To be more specific, it hurts *frost* mages more than anything. Despite generally being poor for PvP, fire mages have it much, much better off with their 70% resist.

Less then 1000 lifetime kills, no arena teams

Giving up 50+ resilience and close to 100 stam, as well as ~10 spell damage, ~15 crit just to cast uninterupted frostbolts is a bad idea.

I have to ask about that FB pushback for PvP question

you said that

"

No doubt a 1000 health is a big deal, and yes casting frostbolt puts you at risk of being school locked.

but is it really that cut and dry? Wouldn't 2 peice t4 be a better choice than S1 honor gear?

Maybe if you gemmed it for PVP, but season 3 gear (which I mostly have) is not worth giving up for 2pc T4. The 2 pieces of S1 I still have are helm/shoulders, personally I wouldn't trade the stam/resil for spell pushback, and soon I'll have full season 3 anyways.

Plus you'll lose the (4) set bonus of PVP gear, which is 0.15 seconds off polymorph. End of the world? Probably not, but generally PVE gear is for PVE, PVP gear is for PVP.

Don't forget melee are geared out this season with armor penetration gear, and our season 3 has large amounts of armor on it to combat that.

Ok, I hear you.

I have to admit I'm not a fan of what the arena has done to pvp. I really do enjoy the arena, but I miss the wild pvp of old.

Wait, so the S3 4-set is the poly cast reduction? When I look online, that's what it shows, but when I go to the vendor, it shows the S2 bonus, reduced blink. Is that b/c the vendor "realizes" that 2/5 of my gear is still S2? Reduced blink is indeed what I'm getting with 2/5 merc and 2/5 venge.

Thread hijack: what meta are you guys putting into the hat these days?

No, the bonus is the same for all tiers of our glad sets, and yes, it is that crappy blink reduction.

EDIT: S3 gloves have -50% polymorph psuhback resist though.

Yup, just got my S3 gloves--the class bonus on them is a damn sight better than S2. Can't wait to try them out this week in 3s.

Unless I'm sitting here at work, losing my mind, I'm pretty sure I use top Rank AE and it still takes two sometimes. Are you sure you use Rank 1?
