draining mana while in bear!!Follow

#1 Feb 04 2008 at 12:53 PM Rating: Decent
I am wondering if bear form protects the druid from all mana leeching spells.
when an hunter use viper sting I can see the icon
when locks use drain mana and I go bear the blue link doesn't stop

Anyone know if bera form protects me from that?

Uhm - bearform does prevent viper sting and manaburn - you haven't got a manabar for them to burn (but you have got one for innervate to replenish). The icon will still be there, and it'll start ticking again if you got out of bear before the sting wears off. One thing worth noticing is that all hunters stings are classified as poison, so you could just use an abolish poison when fighting hunters (unless they got a scorpid pet which also uses poisons and thereby covers the stings.)

well i know there amune to polymorph effects but a scorpid sting what??
but how can a foe draw energy?

Bears have rage not mana, so their mana can't be drained.

Not quite.

If a mana burn is being cast on you before you switch to bear/cat form you still get hit by it.

things without mana cant be mana burned or drained, so bear form and cat form is safe.

then how then hell did i start a fight in cat form and kill someone(pve) who was using mana draining effects in netherstorm and when fight finishes i go to caster form and there is no mana when i had full mana when i changed form?

and technically we still have mana even tho in a different form, just the bar changes form mana to energy or rage so you can see the concerning bar for your form, hence why innovate still works in the different forms,

there is an add-on that shows all energy bars at the same time but not sure what it is called

no idea how that happened, but i sit in bear/cat form with viper sting/mana drain/mana burn coming at me all the time and i dont lose mana.

might be a pve only thing, but in terms of pvp, being in bear/cat protects your mana from any pvp mana drain.

could be a pve thing wouldn't surprise me
i don't notice in pvp as the only time in caster form is when im buffing up or just rezzed :P

Well I know in the Netherspite fight in Kara I get mana-drained while tanking the green beam. It's why I spend the whole fight in Bear form coz if you try change you cant change back without a Manapot.

First time I did that fight I thought druids were immune to the mana drain effect.Shifted out to throw a heal on someone only to notice my max mana was about 100 and I couldnt shift out. Needless to say not having a tank in the next hase led to us wiping :P

As far as I know, PvE mana drain (read from bosses and mobs) works in any form you are. PvP mana drain only in travel form and caster.

Anyway, what a necro bump.

But my experience has been that if you are in cat or bear, mana drains & burn don't work on me. they only work when I in caster form. I do mostly pve. I not should why zhok it seem to work agianst you. My only though when you switch forms somehow game didn't register the change in forms.
