So if I am mainly right now a soloing lock how should I spec at this point? I am a little confused looking at the various ways players spec themselves. What is best for leveling, soloing?

Affliction.

The quote about a Lock with Voidwalker out being an Easy HK is crazy to me, though - unless they're NOT SL/SL in which case I agree to the fact that they are dumb.

Once again, dispel fixes that for me ;) Shadow Ward? Dispel. Fel Armor? Dispel. DoT's? Dispel. Drain Life? Dispel. Drain Mana? Dispel. Fear? WotF/Fear Ward/Trinket. I don't know, maybe the SL/SL locks I've come up against just aren't that great, but they don't have the damage or the staying power to compete when I can dispel pretty much everything they have AND keep DoT's ticking away on them as well.

It's for that reason that UA locks hurt so much as a priest. I *can't* dispel, and much resort to healing myself, which leaves me much more vulnerable to interrupts and means I'm not damaging and can't get the lock to the point of being forced to kill themselves for me by running their mana dry.

Everyone is talking about how a VW in an SL/SL setup is SOOOOO hard to kill, but I said "I" (note: specific to me) think free HK. If you really think some SL/SL lock is going to beat full affliction, raid destro, 30/21/10 or even felguard using a VW you must think entirely too highly of the SL/SL spec. Banish/Felhunter work wonders. Yes, SL/SL has some durability, but against other locks it's not the super-spec it is vs. Mages, Rogues, etc.

A VW is an invitation for me to gank you. Just remember that if you ever reroll alliance on Tichondrius.

Well yeah, against another lock a VW is a terrible pet to use in PVP.

I've traded specs around on my lock a fair bit since hitting 70 (leveled as Felguard, tried UA, 40/0/21, 41/10/10, and now SL/SL.) The voidwalker is a great pet for health-funnel soloing elites that are it spots too tight to kite around. Also, I use him for Black Morass runs. Siphon + Corruption + CoA + his melee damage kills the larger adds in there, so I can handle adds while still putting up reasonable dps and using drain life on the boss at each portal. Any other pet and I'd be running around, draining the adds, etc. and slowing the group down.

im lev 70 lock... I use my imp in instance parties that have a good tank.. If the party needs a little help with argo I use my felguard.. basically i use him as a protector incas the healer pulls argo.. I seldom use my felhunter or my sucub. As for the void, I use him for farming groups that are low level... once he pulls the the mobs to him I then blast then with rain of fire. It all depends on how u are specked in the 3 classes and ur personal pref.
