Hey guys, I've been spending the night browsing some of the other class forums, and I'm becoming quite amused by what I see. In almost every forum there's some thread about DPSing as said class, and people always pipe up with "I top all of our Kara runs by 20%" or "I always get the most kills in BGs" or something similar - but usually with worse grammar. So it's time for us to come clean - who do you find usually tops the damage meters, and why do they top them? Gear? Skill? Class?

For me, when we run Kara, I'm near the top, but I'm also geared for harder things than Kara...I just don't have the time to try to get into a more serious guild. So I'm sort of overgeared for it, whereas we run with a lot of people that are undergeared. I will freely admit, however, that I have never out DPSed an equally geared rogue, and similarly geared mages are also quite difficult to match. I usually don't count my pet, either - I think of it as a bonus.

Rogue and lock outdps me

Currently, thats the only WWS i am on because we only use it for 25 man and only have been using it for a few days.

on pure dps i come in lower, 7th place at 655 dps wich isnt bad considering that i had to run a lot because of flares and "wasting" GCD's with scorpid sting and misdirect.
Oh, and i was one of the worst geared people in there ;)

Mages always out DPS me. Mostly because my gear is defensive and Mages are meant to deal a TON of damage. If I was to duel a mage though the odds would be in my favor simply because I have a ton of stamina, I can wear mail, and because I have the trapping ability, silencing ability, and I get to use my pet.

in kara i was usualy 2nd or 3rd fighting with a lock and SP at roughfly the same %.

the nr1 spot was more or less always dedicated to the same warlock.
biggest reason for that would obiosly be the somewhat overpowered tailoring patterns.

think gruul was the first time i saw a rogue infront and mages(for some reason) seem to "always" come just short. that said the upper half in kara was usualy within 1-2% in damage so some slacking on a pull or 2 basicly was enough to drop in the list :P

In any 5-man I've done on my hunter, I'm usually top...and then my pet is 2nd or 3rd. I'll chalk that up to running with complete idiots though...

But yes, in almost every classes sticky they claim to be highest DPS class. Skill > Gear > Spec > Class IMO.

A bonus that doesn't exist unless you're there. Count your pet in your DPS, unless you think any raid leader would consider taking you along if you DIDN'T bring your pet.
