My first KaraFollow

#1 Feb 01 2008 at 11:44 AM Rating: Decent
So last night i ran Kara for the first time. Even though I came in at the Curator, it was still a fun experience. I was off healer and I realized I need more mana o_0. Also we didn't down him but if we would have taken care of the adds we would have. But i was sad because i really wanted the T4 gloves.

So that was the opener, now for the question. I frequently burn my mana real quick especially being main healer for regular instances. But what is a typical/good way to Heal in Tree of Life form in reg/heroic instance and raids. I have read that its good to have some time in between healing so that you get the MP5 but what if that person is like dying? I guess that is my biggest issue because my HoT's are good but my mana is quickly gone after each pull.

Thanks.

I'd suggest including a link to your Armory profile if you're looking for specific suggestions. Otherwise, people can't tell if it's simply a gear issue, or if it must be something else.

There's a lot of friendly people on this forum, but you have to help them to help you :)

Yeah I was planning that but atm my armory has not my full healing gear. So it wouldn't be too much help but as soon as i get home i'm gonna link my gear.

Also, were you on the tank or the raid? Shaman's & Priests are much better on the raid as they have their group heals which are quite quick & mana efficient compared to us having to cast on each person.

Druids & Pallys are better MT healers as we can keep up a high rate of heals while still being mana efficient. Pretty sure as a rule, with roughly the sam gear, we can put out more heals using lifebloom & rejuv on the tank than a pally spamming his heals, but Pallys are still well and truly the kings on mana efficiency.

well it was my first time so i just stuck to puting my HoTs on the main and off tank and others. I really wasn't used to being off healer but at some times i had to use my bigger healing spells because the tank would drop really fast and they weren't getting healed and i would do it. I guess not enough communication, something i would need to work on as well.

In that sort of a situation, i'd try and keep 3 lifeblooms going on the tank. You then have time to cast 2 instants in between re-casts on the tank. You can use either a lifebloom on 2 targets or 1 lifebloom & a rejuv on a single target who has dropped low.

The 3 stack on the tank should give the MT healer enough slack to keep everything under control as well as perhaps help on raid a bit. Primarily using lifebloom (& avoiding regrowth) will allow your mana to last a lot longer as well.

As far as your gear goes, it looks fine. I have a bit more +heal than you but I think our regen is about the same so that shouldn't be the issue.

Before I start this post Id like to begin by saying that I'm not a Druid healer but a Paladin but Id like to offer some suggestions.

1. Instances and Heroics are you friend...Try to replace some of those greens as quick as ya can. Earn some badges and pick up an Essence of the Martyr.

2. If you plan to continue raiding you'll have to lose some of the PvP gear. Some of it is quite useful but as ya progress through Kara and beyond that kind of gear is gonna quickly become obsolete.

3. Base Mana Regen looks good for the first Kara experience. That'll grow larger the more time ya spend there.

4. As someone previously stated...Focus your Lifebloom above Regrowth. That will keep your mana up. Also make certain if you have a Paladin in the group he gives you Greater Blessing of Wisdom or Kings depending on whether there is a Druid in the raid who happens to be tanking.

5. Invest in the Visual Healing mod to make sure you aren't healing over someone else. Overhealing is wasted mana.

Like I said before Im not a Druid healer but I hope this helps some.

Yes! That helps alot! I just got some new pants that give me more spirit that help out alot I have noticed. But yes I know Kara is where I need to be and i have already looked at all the sweet gear I can get outta that place. :D

It's just finding a group is the problem, :(....but on the bright side...we just had alot of transfers to Malorne so hopefully that won't be the issue any longer.

Some other things to consider:

Use a mana potion at 80% or so of your mana and every time they are available after that. Also, Dark runes are similar to a mana potion and on a seperate cool down. You can purchase them from the AH or there's a BoP version of these things that drop from mobs in Felwood. Lastly, you can either innervate very early in the fight and hope for it to be available again before the end, or use it when potions and runes are both on CD and you've got nothing left.

Yeah i used this advice in BM last night and it helped out a lot especially jumping from a wave to boss fight. Also it was cool that in the whole instance i used Lifebloom and rejuv 95% of the time and regrowth like 3 times and I healed for over 300k :D I was happy.

Also I am a little saddened that no one on Malorne can make Golden Spellthread :(
