My friends and fellow rogues, I’ve done something stupid.

In WoW, I’ve always been fine with money. Well, more than fine. I’ve had amazing success with the AH and have accumulated a vast sum of money. This has allowed me to make my main char pretty close to a twink.

When I hit 50, I figured- hey, 8 lvls to go, better make them go quickly!- and promptly got some darn good gear. Ran Mara for Thrash and Albino boots, picked up two pieces of Shadow whatever armor (Tier 0 set) in the AH for 10g total. Got Stormshroud chest and shoulders, Devilsaur legs and gauntlets. For all intents and purposes, I’m freaking awesome.

Now I’m level 59. I play with my fiancée and we haven’t gone through the portal yet. It’s finally hit me: I’m retarded. I didn’t listen to anyone- I wanted to be constantly geared in blues for ease of leveling (on the plus side, I did level pretty fast for a casual gamer). Everyone told me gear doesn’t matter until Outlands, and even then only in gearing for heroics until 70.

Problem is, I still have bad habits. I’m still searching the AH, now for stuff “of the bandit”. Now when I hit 60, I’ll have 2 bandit greens a 1 blue belt (I bought it for 1g so I didn’t feel bad) to put on. I thought I’d care that I would be breaking my sets but now I just don’t care. I can’t believe I thought the extra 20-odd damage from the Stormshroud set made it worth keeping. The +20 hit rating from Devilsaur, much better but still. Outlands gear is freaking awesome.

Noob rogues or rogues that are addicted to gear like I am/was- please heed this message: SAVE YOUR GOLD. Unless you plan on farming honor or doing BGs, don’t waste your gold. You’ll need it for mounts.

Think of it this way- you can either spend 30g on your Scorpion Sting that you’ll upgrade in a few levels or you can save the 30g and save yourself a half hour of gold grinding for your flying mount(s).

Save don’t spend. Please. Don’t be retarded like I was.

On the other hand: once you get to Outland, gold is easy to get. If you've spend 100G during leveling to get some decent weapons to make grinding/leveling more easy and quick, you'll earn it back in one hour at level 70.

In Outlands they wipe their **** with gold. It's painful and unnecessary, but they get just that much of it.
