Other hunters in a PUG , love or hate!Follow

I play a few classes, healers mostly. And I have few if any problems working alonside another member of the same class except when it comes to gear. Yet when on my hunter I cannot abide another hunter joining the group! Not because of gear but because its very rare to come across another hunter who is at the very least "DECENT". Many times they will break my traps, use explosive trap and in some cases run up to the mob and ice trap before the tanks pulls!
Is it me or does anyone else who has a hunter feel more critical about other hunters and themselves?

One particular case is in SL and halfway in need a replacement who turns out to be another hunter. All dressed up in PVP gear by the looks, np I think. A couple of wipes later and BOTH me and him get kicked from the group after some of the most awful language I heard yet(and been a healer I hear a lot).

Grrr, i'm mainly just ranting and venting my spleen yet it gets me most to be painted with the same brush because of what another did.

Most PUG hunters aren't very skilled in playing their class. That is just my experience. Usually they are aren't very skilled in trapping and sometimes break their own traps. Hate for me.

I don't mind any class or combination of classes in my PUG's, as long as they are reasonably competent.

When my hunter was in the high 30's, I did a SM-Cath run with 4 other hunters. It was the fastest I have ever cleared that dungeon. Nothing like watching a mob disappear under a 5 pet onslaught to bring a smile to a hunter's face.

I don't mind other Hunters in a PuG all that much. If they suck, they just make me look bloody Godly. If they are competent, we got some serious fun ahead of us with dual chaintrapping and so on.

However, if he does suck, I do feel a bit of transferred shame. I mean... I take enormous pride in being a damn good Hunter. Never popping CCs prematurely, making sure the tank gets the beating from any mob that is peeled off by an AoE happy mage. All the while topping any Damage Meter. A bad Hunter, however... he makes the whole class look bad. If I am in the group, I can rectify it by showing off exactly what a Hunter is capable of, but I still have that "stop fUcking with my damn class!" feeling.

Yup, that's about the time I boot the hunter the hell out of my group.

Just like any other class, if they suck they go...
I like having a god hunter in my group, the competition on the charts adds fun to the usual mundane 5-mans.

But yea, hunter pugs in 5-mans are what gave me my signature.

Yea, I have a nasty habit of inspecting all hunters I come across... Unfortunately my world gets no reassurance when I come across one doing the right thing. And when I find one with all the wrong stats I'm afraid to whisper them with a few pointers because I don't want to recive the "OMFG STFU U R T3H HVNT4RD N00B, UR G34R IZ T3H LULZ".

Yea, I am always afraid of pugs because of huntards and people being over critical of me, I know what to do and how to do it, it's just I am prone to accidents like tab swapping on to a cc'd mob and accidentally hitting it, breaking my own trap while running away or targeting the tanks mob, or thunderclapping right after the mage sheeps.

resto shaman healing with the agi totem, and 3 BM hunters ( at least one Draenei for the hit) aaaaahhhhhhh.

its not very strange people feel this way, hunters is just so much esier to see what they are doing(or doing wrong).
sure a mage that cant handle sheeps is prtty obious aswell but you get my drift.

that said i really havnt ran into that many "huntards" during my 120+days on my hunter and i do usualy enjoy grouping with another hunter, its always fun to compare dps :D

when it comes to players not knowing thir class at 70 its not very hard to see why either, dungeon blues arent really worth anything while leveling so most/many basicly never party before 70. and when dinging 70 or close after they are epiced out in pvp gear so others cant really see on the gear if they have some understanding of the class or not.

I've had good and bad experiences with other hunters also. I find it fun when the other hunter plays well. Multiple frozen mobs being chain trapped is quite amusing. I prefer to be the only hunter when a boss might drop an item I want however. Losing a need roll to another hunter can cause mild depression for a few days.

When I was leveling my pally, I used to cringe when we would get a hunter in the group. I am sure it is not limited to my realm, it seemed like every hunter I grouped with thought one of three things:
*My pet is a better tank than you!
*Uber leet melee DPS yo!!
*Growl can be turned off???

For these reasons I hate grouping with a hunter I havent "trained" or a friend. Still while doing instances with my pally I pay close attention to hunters and correct them immediately if I see them being silly.

On the other end of the spectrum, a hunter who knows what they are doing is great, even at low levels. And when I do bump into a hunter who asks for tips, or who has a clue I usually find that the groups goes very smooth and i have a lot of fun.

I think that maybe part of the anti-hunter attitude is due to the fact that having a hunter in a group is a make-or-break deal, depending on if it is a skilled or unskilled hunter. IMO, a group can often get away with having a mediocre tank, etc, but having a bad hunter can wipe a group thisquick.

I make a very conscious effort to "follow the rules" of playing a hunter well. I'd like to think that I am helping to improve the hunter's bad rep by being a helpful team player in instances etc. Seeing a good hunter makes me smile, and a bad one makes me cringe. I try not to judge too much because I was once a huntard and am still learning new things every day.

When I was pugging a lot, I avoided groups with other hunters like the plague. Partly because many of them weren't very good, and tended to make my life harder. But mostly because I was only pugging instances and heroics trying to gear up. I didn't want to have to roll on that piece of loot I'd been grinding forever for. ;-)

Nowadays, I don't mind so much. If I see one trying, but clearly doesn't quite grasp something, I'll send him a tell with a suggestion on how to do it better. Most times they're appreciative. The ones who aren't continue to look bad and are eventually kicked anyway.

Don't get me started on the hunter we /gkicked right out of Kara....

I do find that I'm more critical of other Hunters in groups, PUG or Guild. I ask spec and specifics "Talented Mark?", and I set up a division of responsibility "I'll always Scorpid if you'll always Mark", and if it's not followed and the team is struggling (there's no point in complaining if the group is cruising) then I'll ask again, and point out the deficiency.

I find "I know what to do and how to do it", and "I'm prone to accidents like tab swapping on to a cc'd mob and accidentally hitting it" to be mutually exclusive. It's not hard at all to become familiar with the F keys. If the Tank is the 3rd person in your group, when it comes time to swap targets you hit 'F3', 'f', and you're now targeting the next kill target. If you break CC when doing this, it's forgivable, because the tank shouldn't be tab targeting either.
