What to do now?Follow

I just hit level 70 in under 14 days played time and I have no gear/money because of it. i have my flying mount of coarse but thats about it. I have 375 mining.

I can't get in any groups because there are way to many DPS classes such as rogue, SP, mage, and lock. I can't tank because of my gear is so ******. I was wondering what I could do in order to get in groups/get gear. Thanks.

Well, I suggest completing quests, now at 70 get get more gold for each quest completed.
1) You'll get drops from mobs to make money for better gear (even cloth will AH nicely, and grey armor/weapons NPC nicely, don't toss anything). There is plenty of nice starter tanking gear in the AH. Normally cheap'ish.

2) Goes along with questing. Go to Bladesedge and get the Quest: Grulloc Has Two Skulls (Group) and those 5 man quests. After doing all those you'll have Ogr'ila access. That's where you're dailies are. Dailies = easy gold, fast.

3) Goes along with questing. Go to sketties right outside of Shatt to the far southeast. There are 2 dailies there. An escort that's always taken :/ and the bombing run. Watch the birds and fly in Defensive stance (less likey to knock you off).

4)Start gathering and selling. Forget about crafting until you have the money. I'm guessing you're a Miner/BS... correct? Fel ore on up will net you a pretty penny, but it takes time gathering them until you get epic flyer.

5) Run instances. If you have a basic "of the defender" set, yes you'll take more damage than other tanks, but eventually you'll get instance gear drops. You can make up a bit for the gear by getting consumables (stoneshield pots, scrolls of protection, elixirs of major/superior defense, spicy crawdad *speaking of which, level fishing, some fish sells nice.. from what I read*, etc) Pick up any blue tanking thing you can get. If you're not Protect spec'd yet... I'd suggest it. It'll take up a little more slack that your gear is short on. *only do that after questing, Prot solo'ing is tough with out good gear.

There's also a good non-instance gear guide in the warrior stickies: SkibumOnShiva's guide to tanking gear via questing only.. It'll show you what quest or AH that you can pick up a basic set of tanking stuff. As long as you're not trying to run Heroics you should be ok. Ramps is rough starting out, unless you have a solid group behind you.

That's about it. Quest and instance. If you can, start looking for a Kara guild. Yes, you'll be a Off Tank for a while, but just about every boss (and some trash mobs) will drop great tanking stuff. I'd highly suggest getting some blue tanking set before applying to raiding guilds tho.

It's not easy or fast to break into endgame, unless you have a good guild that will assist you (in quests and raids). How I met my guild was running instances. Mech actually, trying for my 12th attempt at getting my 1st real chest armor (jade-skull breastplate). A officer in my guild was in the party (and like 3 others), after it we got to talking, and here I am XD

Just get out there, be social (not a trade channel jerk), but social. Talk a bit in instances, have fun with them... god knows you'll have enough attempts in the same instance thanks to the low drop rates, also a friendly group tends to disband less than a quiet group lol. A mispull or accident of some sort still happens to the best of them, every now and then. Smiley: blush

Don't give up man. You got thru the hard part... leveling to 70. Everyone needs a tank. Just listen to the LFG channel sometimes, you'll see.

Oh and leveling up that fast (14 days?)... I'm guessing you did not do too many instances. That's going to hurt you a bit being a tank. We don't just whack away at the mob, there is some skill behind it lol. Also that only gave you 14 days to sell your drops, and gathering/professions were prolly out of the question? It's not a race, and now you're paying for it a bit, but you'll catch up.

To be honest I am amazed. How can you not know what to do?
There is so much to do it is hard to choose from:
You can:

- Farm money and buy craftables - there are nice craftable items for both DPS and tank sets.
- run 5 men instances
- farm reputation to get reputation awards
- start gaining honor to earn some PvP gear
- establish Arena team and gather points to get arena gear
- work on second profession
- try to find a nice guild (raiding one preferably)
- get epic flying mount to increase mining profits (last one to do)
- quest to earn money and items and reputation all together
.....

GL. A new game starts for you. Much different form the game when zou were leveling.

Gyfford's advice is great especially about mining and selling the ore. With a flyer you can mine so much more efficiently than ever before. Doing Outland quests for money is great too and most of those quests will be so much easier now that you have a flyer.

Try getting into some of the instances designed for levels 65-69 and start picking up some gear. Being overleveled a little will help make up for poor tank gear and get you some good tanking experience as well. Look into getting some of the Felsteel set pieces that are made by blacksmiths because they are fantastic starter tank pieces for a level 70. There are a lot of good tanking pieces that are quest rewards too.

Yes, Quest for Gold/Rep...buy rewards. Another viable option for Warriors is PvP Upgrades temporarily until you can fill the slots. Even S1 gear is decent stuff for tanking/dps'ing if you fit it with decent gems. I had two slots that desperately needed upgrading, so I just did AV for a week for some S1 pieces that fit the bill quite well.

however...

don't make pvp gear the main focus of your tanking set. it is only to be used as a stopgap until you get a PvE-tanking focused piece in that slot. this is a tank in my old guild. he has a lot of armor (16k) but only 10k-ish health and the kicker - only 29% total avoidance, with 20% combined dodge/parry and 465 defense (despite stacking defense gems in every slot). this means you will get hit often, and sometimes get hit very hard. the high armor and stamina on pvp gear may be nice, but they lack dodge and/or parry.

There's only one thing to do as a TRUE warrior. Streak in IF/Oggy.
