I hadn't tanked with my pally for about 2 months until last week and I must admit I thought it had definitely been easier then my first encounters. If you check my armory I pretty much have the all the pre kara gear. Mostly blues from instances/quest rewards.

I think what makes or breaks you really is your healer. Priests and pallies I have had no problems with but I find that druids especially I struggle with. Those HOTs (shudder) are bad in heroics.

I was in h Slabs with a priest and there were a few occasions where I had to hold 2 or 3 mobs d/t failed cc without any hiccups. Had that been a drid and I'd be satying hello wipe goodbye durability.

Check my gear if you like mate. You cant be crushed in heroics at 70 but you will still want your avoidance up there.

Am I rdy for Heroics yet? So close to 490 defense its killing me. My guild is planning on starting Kara mid Feb and I need some better tanking gear quick. Where should I get the gear that will put me past 490 defense now? If I am close, let me know which Heroics to start off for tanking gear. Appreciate the help guys.

As KT posted you need to up your defense to 490. Not only that how in the hell do you hold agro with only +11 spell damage? You really need a weapon that has at least 120 spell damage and then get the +40 spell damage enchant. At the higher end of raids you probably want between 200-250 spell damage for threat.

There are many options available from the Continum blade from KoT rep or the Crystal Forged sword from the AH (that is the one I have with a +40 spell damage enchant)

Other than that your nearly there a couple of tweaks here and there. I did my first heroic which was SP and before I got my tanktronic goggles my health was similar to yours at about 10300. If your going to do some heroics I hope you have good CC and healer because you will get hit and get hit hard.

Oh and I just noticed 2 other things.....you will want a better cloak than you have and also run the mana tombs (normal mode) escort quest and get the tank boot rewards from there.
