Found this site. Love it.

I'm about to ding 70. Any suggestions on what kind of gear I should go for? It's been lalala of the bear and I love the strength/stamina combo (Protection spec). Should I just pvp for gladiator gear? Thanks.

PvP gear is only suitable for DPS classes/specs as far as using it for PvE stuff, tank spec/classes dont get the def/avoidance, heal spec/classes dont get the MP5 although not that detrimental.

Tank spec/classes get the least from PVP gear. so much so that you could actually tank just as good in greens (exageration? i really dont think so) then in the epic prot pvp sets.

PvP gear is only really a starter set for DPS classes.

Edit: clearify, i mean when using pvp gear for PvE stuffs. Using PvP gear for PvP stuff no matter what class/spec is fantastic.

agree with Reun plus you don't need the strength...I suggest you read the sticky there is a wealth of info in it.

I realize that a paladin's goal is not to be the strongest out on the field. However, I find myself cringing at some of the damage I do without strenght buffs.

Drop the strength and stack some spell damage and you'll be amazed at the damage you can do when grinding

About the need for spell damage and one's avoidance of PvP epics. Would the S1 gavel be something an up-and-coming tankadin should try and work for?

Weapons aside, most PvP gear isn't as good for PvE as comparable PvE stuff. And druid tanks can make decent use of PvP gear(not saying it's the best, just fairly viable).

As a Prot Paladin the only, and I mean ONLY, PvP stuff you should look at are the 1H spell damage weapons. That's it. As far as Strength: you're white damage is going to be crappy as Prot no matter what you do. Going for Strength on gear is a complete waste and you'll be FAR better getting any avoidance stats and/'or intellect instead (you mentioned you're getting stam so I didn't include that).

there are a few items from pvp for tanking after you get uncrushable. but for simplicity sake i'll leave it alone.

Thing is once you hit uncrushable, you need to STAY uncrushable. I'm still having trouble swapping out pieces of gear and keeping uncrushable And I have everything from Kara but my shield and 4/5 Justicar (plus some Heroic badge rewards). For every piece of gear you use that has nothing to help your avoidance it makes it that much harder to keep your avoidance where it needs to be.
