Simple question, can multiple hunters have multiple Viper Stings on a target simultaneously?

One sting up per hunter, meaning the same sting can be up multiple times on the same mob if multiple hunters place it. I know because on the harder hitting bosses like Prince and Gruul, we have 3-4 Hunters and we have 2 serpent and 2 scorpid on them.

The answer though is yes you can have multiple stings up, but the usefulness is zero, a boss with 30000+ MP isn't going to get dented by your stings and he'll do specials even without mana anyway... so focus more on DPS'ing them down besides trying to fight a war of attrition that you're going to lose in the end.

Thanks for the responces guys, but I wasn't thinking in terms of PvE, I was thinking PvP, more so Arena. I run 3v3 team with myself and another hunter and was just thinking we could really drain a healer with two Vipers on them at once. We'll have to give it a try and see what happens.

I would be curious to see how much of an impact 2 viper stings would be on a healer with high INT and high mana regen.

Personally I think its far more useful to kill the healer quickly.
I don't see the purpose just draining a healers mana and keeping him alive while attempting to kill the people he is healing.

Think about 2 hunters popping two Viper Stings on a healer and then immediately continuing to DPS said healer. With both stings ticking away, and the healer constantly healing himself to stay alive, he WILL go OOM very fast. OOM healer = dead healer. Dead healer = good things for us.

I agree cloth healers you can usually win the dps/heal race, but when it comes to paladins they rarely die if they have any mana.

Hence me wondering if we can stack 2 Viper Stings on the healer. With him healing himself or a weaker target through our damage and two stings ticking away on him we could OOM him fairly quickly. Especially mixing in Arcane Shots to dispell all of his precious buffs. Once we get him OOM, turn and blow some CDs to burst him down. I know this is all situational, I simply asked the original question to know if, when the situation presents itself, we could use two Viper Stings at once and not waste each other's Viper Stings by overwriting one another.

Not to mention, a 5v5 team with 3 hunters and 2 healers (Yes, I know this isn't an ideal set-up, but could be fun to mess around with) could be pretty devistating on another team by stacking up 3 Vipers, 3 Pets, and 3 Hunters all hitting a healer. Any healer would be OOM in under 25 seconds, and can you say "Push Back"?

Scorpid stings do NOT stack. I believe the most recent one will overwrite the old one. (Or they might just both show up). However, no matter what icons appear under the bosses debuff bar, they do not stack.

Why? Well if 1 scorpid sting gives a 5% chance for the boss to miss, 10 scorpid stings would give the boss a 50% chance to miss. OP a little?

As for Viper Sting, unless it's been changed recently, it does NOT stack.

Serpent Sting, however, will stack.

As for this, in an Arena or even 1v1, your Viper Sting drains a lot of mana. If you have improved stings (A talent) then your Viper Still will drain about 1776 mana. This is usually about 1/10th of a healers mana pool. When you add on to the fact that the healer must spam their heals on your current target, they tend to OOM very fast

Well I guess I was just assuming it stacked because I saw two icons. And we put Serpent up on them because it's extra DPS, and we have a Resto Shaman that puts down water totem and a Shadow Priest in the Ranged DPS group, so we have the mana to put it up there.

Actually it is not so much extra dps as firing a serpent sting costs you a global cooldown which you could have used to fire a multishot or arcane shot.
Both shots have a much better damage per mana ratio and should do roughly the same damage when you include crits.
Furthermore it is just another timer you would have to watch since you don't want to overwrite your serpent sting.
And the more you have to watch, the more you'll **** up on your shot rotation or the multitude of things which can go wrong on a boss fight.
