hello,

i'm new to the shamman class and I would like to know more. I've been a rogue for more than a year now and needed some changes.

I'm currently enhancement. What is the way to go? I mean, in instance/raid what is the cycle to use? Right now I'm using melee + totem + instant spell ? Is there another way to do more damage?

What should I use for weapon buff (i'm 28) rockbiter, flametongue ... ?

I would also like to know, if I can main heal an instance like SM, event if I'm full enhancement.

thx in adanced shammy community!! :D

O, just wait two levels and you will get the bread and butter of enhancement DPS (windfury weapon).

And yes at those levels you should have no real trouble healing instances. A little healing gear would help.

All you need to do for DPS as Enhancement is auto-attack and then shock when you crit and Shamanistic Rage procs. Regular use of even your cheapest totems is going to run your mana into the ground.

In instances, bite the bullet and lay your totems. Parties don't invite you along to hear about your, "lawl, WF crit". They want you there laying totems to buff the majority of the party and increasing the overall damage or survivability. Just keep some water on you at all times.

Rockbiter 'til Windfury, then Windfury. On everything. One-hand, two-hand, fast, slow, main-hand, off-hand... doesn't matter. Windfury.

Up until Outland you can main-heal any instance in the game as long as you've got a full set of spare, up-to-date healing gear. I would not advise it in Outland at all. It's still tough for my Shaman to off-heal when not specced Resto and she's 70 with several epic healing pieces from Kara.

Once you start dual-wielding, if you get 2 weapons with vastly different speeds
(read over a 1 sec diff in speed) it might be worthwhile to put Windfury on MH and Rockbiter on OH just because of the hidden cooldown and the fast OH could steal Windfury procs and lower your DPS.

However, if you just went with Windfury on both hands you wouldn't be doing anything wrong.

In instances you can heal up to outlands efficiently with decent healing gear. If your DPS then just use Strength of earth totem, Healing spring(unless requested by group to mana it up) Windfury totem at 30(?) And if its a large trash pull (3+ mobs) i usually throw down a magma totem, and chain lighting to clearify that i am the top dps in the group (atm rogues are chump compared to my dps). But other then that, rockbiter till WF like said before. I usually use a few more shocks then when i just crit but with drinks and resting when healer does, its worth using more mana to do more dmg. Just make sure to use Totemic Call once the group moves on to get some mana back from totems. Raids i suggest same stratagey if you can stay enh spec.

Windfury on 2-handers, always.
Two slow one-hands (once available), Windfury both.
Slow mainhand (windfury), very fast offhand (flametongue), and work your *** off to get a slow offhand so you can dual WF.
PvP you *may* want to go Slow/Fast with WF/Frostbrand, but I'd opt for either Slow/Slow with dual Windfury, or a 2-hander, for more damage.

Shock every time you can, Flame->Earth and repeat, if you don't have mana problems and for maximum damage. Throw in Stormstrike as well, once you get it, and try to time Earth Shock right after it.

For healing, try and grab a little healing gear, since your enhance gear will probably be extremely low on intellect, not to mention the other healing stats. You'll want intellect, and then healing and mana/5 when it starts appearing.

In the event you have to off-tank an add, equip a shield and one-hand and use Frost Shock to keep aggro. If you don't have a shield, I'd highly advise against trying to offtank anything, you'll go squish way too fast.

In groups, drop totems. Solo, only drop them if you really feel the need - I'll sometimes drop Stoneclaw to give me a little leeway on an add, or Searing if I find myself needing more damage so I don't die.

Completely untrue on both accounts. Slow WF main-hand and a fast off-hand with another buff in order to "avoid stealing WF procs from your main-hand" is an urban myth and actually lowers your overall damage.

There have been official studies done with the math to prove it, but... I don't have any of them on tap and I'm too lazy to go look them up. You can if you don't believe me. Or just don't believe me, I'm not the one DPS. But WF/WF is going to give you more damage in every possible scenario of MH/OH speed differences or likenesses, and I've personally observed it to be so over the course of 22 levels spent leveling with WF/?? while dual-wielding.
