My question is referring to the Gladiator's Chain set. Gladiator's Chain (Arena Season 1, which is now purchasable through pvp), Merciless Gladiator's Chain (Arena Season 2), and Vengeful Gladiator's Chain (Arena Season 3) all say the same for the requirements for the set bonus: "Gladiator's Pursuit"

If I wore a Merciless Gloves and a regular Headpiece, would they both count towards the set bonus?

yes, all gladiator sets work towards the same setbonus.
this was (at least partially) because people were getting 2 pieces of gladiator and 2 pieces of merciless to get 70 res.
