So I got this in karazhan, nobody else could really use it. How can I make this work in a prot pally tanking build?

you can't. Its worthless, you want a spell damage weapon.

Disenchant it and use the resulting mats to get some good enchants.

Find a fight where threat doesn't matter and use it there. Otherwise:

/second all the above. I keep it around mostly for those wurms in Kara that are immune to spells ;)

And good lord, if that Punisher ever drops for my guild again, I'd be soooo happy! Dropped once when I wasn't able to be there ... Shadow Priest got it, taunts me with it :P

To elaborate a bit:

Paladins need spell damage to tank, and grabbing a spell damage weapon is the easiest way to get almost all of it in one lump sum. If you pick up a weapon without spell damage, that means you need to grab pieces of armor or accessories with spell damage on them, and the process just gets really messy. Save yourself the trouble and don't try to force the King's Defender into your build.

I've had nightmares about a three way fight for that between our ZA group's prot paladin, shadow priest and moonkin. Thankfully, the priest and the moonkin both got the staff, so I'm much less worried about a fight.

i just realized the other day that those worms are not immune to CS or SoB, but they are immune to judgments.

Which is really awkward as even though Judgements are spell damage, JoCommand follows melee hit rating. (IIRC)
