Newbie Shaman BuildFollow

#1 Jan 30 2008 at 4:25 PM Rating: Decent
I dont play a shaman, or have one; but a friend of mine who is new to the game does. She asked me to design a build for her, because I had always given her advice on leveling and things like that.
When she got to around level 46, she re-speced, with my specifications. Since I dont know a whole lot about what shamans need to fight, I was wondering on if the build I chose was any good. She mentioned she wanted to be Elemental, but had originally been a hybrid, so I designed a build that made the most of Elemental and Restoration, with mostly the latter by the time she reached 70.
I decided to go for something that would maximize the damage, with the least mana cost to compensate for any insufficient skill or gear. The last two points are basically a dump, so I was unsure where exactly they should go, and advised her to make a decision based on needs and play style.

Ok, first off you want to maximize your spell crit (at least that is my oppinion). The more you crit the faster they die. But at her low level, she will not need to worry about that. My final PvE build for questing/leveling is: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?5500015500021505105100000000000000000000050204301005000000000

At 46 I would suggest: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?5500015500021505102000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

I know it looks like "hey look at him he just took a couple points out of his build to make it the right level", but bear with me. As she progresses I would finish the elemental tree, and begin resto.

Go 5/5 in Imp healing wave.

Then 2/2 in reincarn, and fill up totemic focus until you get to the next tier

Next go 3/3 in the spell hit. Totemic mastery isn't that useful in solo PvE. But its point isn't going to be better spent anywhere else. Try it somewhere else if you want. Then just put the last point into anywhere you want.

The entire reason elemental shamans go into the resto tree is because of Tidal Mastery. Put your last 5 points in there.
