BM's! You getting better DPS with this Macro?Follow

Copying this from a relative thread. Need confirmation:

I weave in arcanes and multis when the situation calls for it. Apparently if your timers show you clipping auto-shots they are not always right. I do have 188 steady shots to 183 autos over the course of a Kael fight so something is happening. following the theorycrafting on EJ forums it is a mystery on what is going on. All I know is that I seem to be doing better on the damagemeters pretty consistently since this latest patch.

These are quotes from the EJ forums:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beast Mastery Steady Shot Shot Rotation (Higher Mana Usage, Higher DPS)

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast !Auto Shot
/cast [target=pettarget, exists] Kill command
/cast Steady Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

Beast Mastery Steady Shot Shot Rotation (Lower Mana Usage, Lower DPS)

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast [exists,target=pettarget] Kill Command
/castsequence reset=target/2 !Auto Shot, Steady Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I weave in multis and arcanes when mana permits but even with a ferociously high output SP in my party will need to fel mana pot during the long nuke fights.

I don't care about gold in raids, so the second macro is not an option. Never used it. High Mana Use, High DPS FOR THE WIN.

I see a difference in layout but what is the actual difference in outcome of the macro? I only see Auto and Steady shot in both of those macros, how is one higher DPS, Higher mana than the other if Steady Shot is the only mana using shot in either macro?

This Macro was huge for about a day when it didn't clip auto shots at all. They hotpatched it though, so that doesn't work any more. You want to be using the second macro or timing it yourself.

if you have a fast enough shot cycle then the first one might be slightly better as it will allow you to overcome lag and queue up the next steady shot right after the auto shot, but at that point you're really just timing it anyway.

The reason he has slightly more steadys then autos is as follows.

Assuming the wolfslayer most of the time the second steady will be in the .5s cast time of the autoshot and so will simply queue up. On occasion the steady will be before this and will clobber the autoshot, which is why there are a few more. With the server queues you're better off just timing your steady's in the 500ms before the auto goes off.

Clobbering autos = bad news Smiley: schooled

Could you link to that post please

This is not the first time I have heard of said 'hotpatch'. Here is the link to the original post by Omegetron (4th from the bottom).

I was under the impression that this hotpatch fixed our double multi shot bug that was being exploited for a very short while after the patch 2.4

Edit: It was a double aimed double multi bug that was fixed. I think this macro is the one used for some to get a 3:2 rotation whilst BM but so much confusing stuff to go back over. Will report back when I find out more =)

P.S I hate everyone.

Before the hotpatch you could simply spam steady and the result would be a steady every 1.5 seconds and a auto every (insert weapon speed here). This was a huge change, but is now gone.
