There are many arguments over what a Paladin is: a Healer, a Tank, a damage-dealer. The great thing about being a hybrid is that we are given tools to do it all (but not all at once, of course).

Many say that 'Oh, Paladins are only good at healing! Holy or bust, n00b!' You'll find a lot of that on the Official WoW Boards, along with the two other stereotypes: the Protters, and the Retters. Each believes that their spec is the superior, or that the others are close-minded.

But there is a minority that puts faith in all the specs, and they usually have more experience than the stereotypes in not just one spec, but all aspects of the Paladin class. Of course, not everyone falls into a stereotype.

I don't venture to the oBoards anymore because of all the bickering. I prefer places like Allakhazam because it's more personal. And the advice is much better, with fewer trolls. But I'm sorry, I'm rambling...

The point of this post is to try to ease the nerves of some on this board who are angry. I have been around here for a very long time, seen people come and go, and tried to participate/be active on these boards. I try to give good adive, and I think that I have a lot of experience with WoW, but there will always be someone better. I just plead with you who are fighting right now, to not let this become a cesspool of idiocy and por punkshuashun. There are great, knowledgeable, and helpful people on these forums, and we need to get that 'You are welcome here' feeling back.

Yes, we're a hybrid class, so if you want to specialize in one aspect of it, you can do it. The majority of end-game pallies are holy, but I've run many places where pally tanks rock.

If tons of people seem to spout that certain specs don't work well on the Oboards, then you have basically the same consensus here, then chances are its not a forum poster problem, its a Blizzard designed the spec poorly. As much as I bash ret, I would LOVE for it to work well, but it doesn't. I know you're out there trying to prove me wrong every time you go raid. More power to you. Paladin might have been designed as a pure hybrid class, but I'm personally glad that in actuality the specs are not equal in usefulness. Games that make classes capable of doing a little of everything typically end up sucking at everything. I've been saying this from the start. I don't blame the players, I blame Blizzard.

This bickering reminds me of a guild I was once an officer of. Hopefully it doesnt end up the same way but I must admit I am geting a sense of deja vu.

Everyone has now had there rant, flame or say so now lets get back to what these forums are here for: helping each other out. TBH it all reminds me of primary school, but I guess that should be expected with a game like this.

Why dont we all just:

I agree with dilbirt blizz kinda did poorly with the ret tree but if you get into a raiding guild as a ret pally then your lucky because most guilds i know only take one ret pally. Now being a tankadin is fun thats for sure because theres nothing better then havin about 10 or more guys attacking you and begging the dps to try and pull the mobs off you just to see if they can do it. =P For me anyway Holy is the only way to go for end-game just because playing a healer is alot more funner then a lock imo dont know why but after playing one for 1 1/2 years it got boreing but being a healer is just to fun to stop.

I never thought about it that way, Dilbrt. You make a good point.

But with the way things work, seeing as the trees (although not balanced) make it so that you can't be leet in two areas, and be able to do 2 things at once, I think it would be perfectly reasonable to make all three trees equal.

If they did that I promise you enough players would say "Paladins are OP!" and Blizzard would beat us down with the nerf stick until all the specs are equally useless. Leave ret terrible, force people to go either prot or holy.

Although in comparison, both Prot and Holy are like gleaming metal God's of the Old World that demand blood sacrifices on the hour every hour, and Ret is merely the God that delivers a round-house kick to the face of non-believers*, I wouldn't say Ret is terrible. I was #4 in damage on Magtheridon last night, and was really ripping some face.

*That is to say, I am in no way making a reference to Allakhazam. I just like saying round-house kick.

All these posts about ret lately remind me of a joke:

An old woman walks up to the produce manager in a grocery store. She asks, "Excuse me, young man, but I can't seem to find the broccoli today".

Regretfully, the manager explains "I'm sorry ma'am, but there was a problem with one of our shipments today, and for some reason we did not receive any broccoli. We are expecting another shipment in 2 days, so we should have some if you come back after that."

The old woman thanks him, and goes on with her shopping.

Ten minutes later, the old woman approaches the produce manager again. "Excuse me, young man, but I can't seem to find the broccoli today".

The manager assumes that, due to her age, she probably just forgot that she had already asked. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but we do not have any broccoli today. If you come back in a few days, we should have it in stock again."

The old woman wanders off again, and the produce manager continues with his tasks.

Five minutes later, the old woman comes back. "Excuse me, young man, but I can't seem to find the broccoli today".

By now, the manager is getting a little irritated. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but we have no broccoli today."

The old woman nods, and wanders off.

Three minutes later, the old woman returns. "Excuse me, young man, but I can't seem to find the broccoli today".

Now the manager is pissed. In his most patient tone, he asks "Pardon me, ma'am, but I was wondering, do you enjoy game shows?"

"Oh yes, I watch them every night!" she replies.

"Oh good, then let's play one now. It's really quite simple. I will give you a word, and then ask you to spell a part of the word."

The old woman agrees enthusiastically.

The manager goes on. "Ok, first, spell the CAR in carrot."

The woman thinks for a moment, and timidly replies "C... A... R?"

"Thats right!" The manager exclaims. "Now let's try a harder one. How to you spell the BAG in cabbage?"

"That's easy", she replies, "B.. A.. G".

"Correct again!" he says, "now, I want you to spell the F$@K in broccoli."

The woman thinks for a bit, and says "but there is no F$@K in broccoli."

He screams, "THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO F$@KING TELL YOU!"

Version I heard was:

How do you fit a 500 pound woman in a tiny bikini? Well, I'll give you a hint. You take the "F" out of Fat and the "F" out of weigh.

"But there's no "F" in weigh..."

...

"Oh."
