Hunter PVP - Any tips?Follow

#1 Jan 30 2008 at 5:46 AM Rating: Decent
As I've been 70 for a while now I've been meddling with some BG's (mainly AB and WG) and I've come to realise I'm awful.

I play on a laptop which isn't ideal but I still use my mouse to turn and 60% keybinds.

I'm finding that in most cases if I'm in a 1 vs 1 situation (either after my comrades die or the GY is being gang r*ped) I can only get most opponents to 30% health or more before I die.
This is even when using big red kitty and a trinket.

My main tactics are:

Send Pet
Try to stay out of melee range while arcane/steady/auto shotting and wing clipping if they get close.
I also make sure I use Intimidation to interrupt spells if I can.

I guess as I'm a fresh 70, the opposition are greatly outgear me, but does anyone have some hunter based tips I can use to level the playing field?

Armoury in my sig if you want to look.

Ok. The first thing that I noticed on your armory was your lack of stamina, armor, and agility. I'm not saying your stats are horrible becasue they aren't. You just might want to look into increasing your stats a bit. It will greatly help you out. Oh, I might as well add that you pick up the Valanos Bow just becasue it is affordable and pretty good.
As for the PVP itself... The more you PVP you will find you get better and better at it. You will develop better and more strategies and such. You might want to find a nice covered spot and fire from there and make full use of your traps.

Its not your tactic..its you gear...if you get them in 30% with that gear you are fine...you are 1 instant pyro shot from a mage(which are the most easy opponents)...
Some stats that you should aim for a decent Bgs and arena
Stamina=more than 600..and more than 10000 health
Resiliance=the more the better..but you will see the difference over 250
AP=more than 1500 unbuffed..
Now the only thing you can do is to avoid 1v1 fights..stick with a group,stay behind and just shoot..When you get better armor you will find more tactics and how important is a hunter in BGs..

Hmm, I hadn't considered stamina to be honest.

Is it worth buying a set of "of the bandit" gear or should I just wait until I can get some pvp rewards?

In my opinion of course it is..they are very cheap..and you need it until you get better gear..and better gear wont come in a week..will come in months

Run some 70 instances, start doing arena's, even if you're losing. gear will come. I don't think it's really worth it to buy greens. Pop some cheap stam enchants on your gear if you want, most of them are only a few arcane dust. I'm actually surprised you have so few blues, did you not run many instances?

Also, You want to get 5 points in Mortal shots. I suggest taking one point from frenzy. Also get 2/2 in animal handler. These aren't huge differences but they are noticeable.

For 1v1 pvp, put down a frost or a snake trap. If they are a non aoe class then snake trap, otherwise frost. Kite them through and around this.

Well, i'm PvPing for a week or 2, so i'm pvp specced.
And my pvp gear is pretty bad; but still i have nearly 4k more hp, 1.2k more mana, Selfbuffed around 300 more AP, 5% more crit, a bunch more dodge and 135 more Resillience.

I'd suggest running Shadow Labyrinth and Sethekk Halls for the Boots, ring and sonic spear. (possibly the Dream-Wing Helm too wich is better for pve)
You will also get Spirit shard wich will give you a decent pvp helm, a pvp meta gem to go with it and if you have enough hards an epic pvp ring.

Also, dont stop doing BG's and go for the S1 legs first.
As soon as you have those you can throw +30 sta/10 agi on them and gain an amazing 83 stamina.
