Wow, this thread is kinda sad.

Some of you take this forum a little too seriously, sup Celcio?

But this isn't a smack forum. This isn't a beat down someone to make yourself feel better forum. It's basically an advice forum. If your advice is lawl ret we get it, but other than give yourself a little chubby what did you actually accomplish?

Most of you paladin forum badasses would be run off forums where the point was to smack. But thats neither here nor their.

Sure your going to have the elitist guys and you'll have your little clique and you'll largely be ignored. Sure you guys will be like we are awesome and stuff and our ***** tastes like kool-aid and everyone else we will be like we get it.

But at the end of the day people come here to read what CapJack says about Prot pallies, or what Dilbrt says about Holy, and now what what tommyguns says about Ret at end game. Any new paladin is going to read the FAQ and be smitten with CapJack, hell it might just be a variant of stuff already written or an update but he did it. The names are basically place holders I'm sure any number of people are qualified to fill those roles maybe some even more qualified but they are the ones who take the time who make educate responses and will help the idiot newb get his **** together.

If you want to be CapJack which it seems Celcio does, try to fill his role. It's not like he just plopped his **** out on the bar and said suck it before the drinks even showed up. He wined and dined a lot of us and then we reached in their and pulled his **** out and started gobbling.

WTF, I WILL be a jockey!!! (It's not my fault the horse was put down, he was really old...those spindly legs would have broke under Jorge Chavez's weight.) /rant

You misunderstand. I've no interest in being CapJack. What I'm pointing out is that everyone benefitted from the (yes sometimes quite vigorous) debates and disagreements and whatnot between the folks here and the people who came in with whacked ideas of how specs/builds/gear worked got the same reaction. The "No, yer and idiot". Sometimes there'd be a "here's why" attached to it but often there wouldn't be because the exact same thing was adressed 2 threads down.

Now, according to the ruler, we're not really allowed to do that. Well we can say you're wrong I guess but as long as we couch it in rainbows. And clearly any sort of proof is not a requirement here as either it's not given or, if it's actually provided, it's ignored if it goes against the dictated opinion.

Additionally - I don't come here for Jack or for the current posting set or to solely assist new posters. I come here to pass the time during the day and to amuse myself. If that's a lawl ret post then it's a lawl ret post.

Or, newly, "Lawl Tide!"

Oh and - Maul, if I disputed what Poldaran said, you betcha I'd ask for proof. No one's "say so" really counts much.

Oh and Chood, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for you to find out this way. Smiley: frown

See the red or green arrow to the right ------>

You can rate posts up or down and the posters "karma" changes accordingly. It's allahs way of encouraging us to play nice

If you rate someone up enough their name will change from orange to blue to green then finally red, along with new titles...

Ah ha, thank you! Now I feel slightly less board-noob-ish. =)

Eh, I do kinda miss the long tirade threads that got people fired up enough to actually bother spelling out the math, statistics, and sources behind their claims.

It's sorta nice though to be able to read a thread and find info or an interesting debate without weeding through pages of flames.

It's been so long that I can't even remember if you were around for it, Celcio, but is there anyone here beyond maybe tommyguns or Maulgak that remembers my Paladin FAQ?

I just looked it up.. I must of missed it, because I was posting relatively early in the forum, about the 20th page (from the back) is where my first posts are. Then I stopped for a while then came back.

Anyway, I read it and I was laughing my *** off. I thought it was funny and at the time I probably would have voted for it had I been around during that time.

It was definitely different and very antagonistic, but it wasn't really specific in it's antagonism, it was pretty much everywhere.

Hi. No. :P

I just lurk far more than most, but I registered and was posting on the site a full 100k users before you registered. :) (my user# 171015, yours 271261)

As for the rest of the post, forums everywhere are full of bickering and cliques. Currently the clique on the WoW Paladin forum is everyone-but-ret-pallies. This will change someday, and someday may even change back. To try to seek an internet forum where everyone truly sees eye to eye just isn't going to happen when there are multiple people visiting the page.

I gotta admit, I remember it when it was first up, as it was the post that helped me figure out how the hell to spec my first pally. It was freaking hilarious, and I loved it. Granted, I have a similar sense of humor, I guess.

Oh Gaudion's was a hoot! I also love Filterspawn's mage one. But yeah, I guess it depends on where your funny bone is located.

edit: my cunning quote trap was a success!

Still losing out to the quoting, eh? Yeah, I enjoyed Filterspawn's Mage Sticky too, even if my mage is hovering somewhere between occasional alt and bank character :)

Edit: Grr, quoting a bad quote ends up in a bad quote...is that irony or what?

I declare this issue over.

Let us move on.
#69 Feb 01 2008 at 3:29 AM Rating: Decent
So basically,

1) a vile new beyond-the-pale caring, sharing approach has engendered a culture in the last 6 months or so that has resulted in droves of noobs asking questions that weren't asked in the past because posters had 'learned' not to ask them? WTF? I've been reading these pally boards the last 20 months and people have always asked a lot of really stupid questions. It happens - it's the nature of the beast.

2) the finger for this recent development (which is possibly the harbinger of the collapse of civilsation itself) can be pointed squarely at the 'cult of Jack'. Jack's given them more time than the legends of the past would have done, and because of this heinous crime suddenly the noobs have taken over the asylum. Now, apparently, the boards are all clogged up with so much crap that nuggets for the one true elite are so hard to find they're like Iraqi weapons of mass destruction and gee, it's barely worth any real player's time or effort anymore on these boards. /rend hair /gnash teeth /tear raiment

Please help, I think I'm going to die laughing.

I have to ask, is someone having a mid-life crisis?

I love this family.

i think we all contribute our own thing to these forums. some are objective, some are biased. some are subtle, some are in-your-face. some are helpful, some are entertaining(some are both). without the brain farts of some of the regulars i dont think one can truly get a rounded understanding to what is being address. listing a bunch of math and formulae might prove a point, but alot of times a few strong words will drive a point...that is where i feel we stand as a forum.

we tend let our own personal opinions be felt. we also tend to support others with similar opinions and oppose ones with dissimilar opinions. this creates the so called 'fanclubs'.

when i first came here is was a 2 posts lvl 49 Retpwnj00 ***. a couple *********** notedly from Gaudion(who wrote a good, yet brash FAQ) and i was grounded. from there i was able to use these forums and other resources to mature and form my own taste.

i think calling out other posters is immature and almost a cry for support. but also i think the small cliques that make up these forums create solid point of views.
