Hit rating or Haste rating..../sighFollow

#1 Jan 29 2008 at 7:51 AM Rating: Decent
So I've been getting as many badges as I can lately to get the Badge of Justice rewards but I noticed they BARELY have any hit rating. I know you can socket hit gems but most of it is all about haste rating. Lately my guild and I have been raiding TK, Gruuls, and SSC (I haven't gotten any drops yet) and I know there is gear from those areas that do have hit rating, so is it even worth grinding out badges?

Dory's Embrace = win.

The badge rewards are a nice way to tide you over between Kara and 25-man drops, so if you don't need any of those, horde them for nethers, I guess.

Hit rating > Haste! Here is a website that I found to be extremely useful! It has a lot more information than our Rogue FAQ. Its more for end game information. With a equipment spread sheet that will give you ideas of what to gem and what to shoot for. I would re-socket the Head with better gems though.

Here is the gear spreadsheet

And the website(I would recommend any rogue to go to)

Assuming you've at least got enough +hit to not miss specials (which is almost impossible to avoid as a Rogue), haste is like hit except better in every way.

Assuming a 30% Crit Rate and 15% combined Dodge/Miss rate, here is what you get from 15.76 Hit (1% Hit) vs. 15.76 Haste (1% Haste). This is a 100 second test, with you swinging once every second (just roll with it).

Control:

30 Crits
15 Misses
25 Glances
30 Hits

30 * 2 + 25 * .65 + 30 * 1 = 106.25

+1% Hit
30 Crits
14 Misses
25 Glances
31 Hits
30 * 2 + 25 * .65 + 31 * 1 = 107.25

+1% Haste
30.3 Crits
14.1 Misses
25.2 Glances
30.3 Hits
303. * 2 + 25.2 * .65 + 30.3 * 1 = 107.28

As your other stats (in particular Crit) go up, Haste pulls further and further away. If you can choose, pick Haste.

Keep in mind haste doesn't effect ppm(proc per min) items/enchants/etc, but talents like combat potency/sword spec/poisons and wind fury are straight % chances so stacking haste with those abilities is advantageous.

Hmm alrightythen. Well with the haste gear I will, w/o a doubt, gem them with hit gems (if they have gem slots). So I guess getting the Badge of Justice rewards IS the ideal way to go? I do have gear that needs to be upgraded (don't we all) as far as pvp gear to pve gear, so I'll just keep farming badges in Kara until I have everything. Thanks for the input everyone!

I have two choices involving badge rewards and haste which are painstakingly close....

Skulker's Greaves vs. Shallow-Grave Trousers

&

Netherblade Gloves vs. Trickster's Stickyfingers

Shadowpanter has the Skulker's Greaves a bit ahead and they provide more gemming options, but no haste... and I am 19/42 combat swords so it would help with combat potency procs..

Shadowpanter also has the Stickyfingers as a decent upgrade, but i would lose the 2 piece T4 set bonus by replacing the Netherblade Gloves with the Stickyfingers..and therefore my 1s/5r cycle

These are fairly close elitist jerk spreadsheets as well, but I dont fully trust them either...

Any help or opinons would be greatly appreciated as a nethercobra let armor, 140 badges, and some rare gems are burning a hole in my bank atm..

p.s. biohacker....there are no sockets in the haste gear (see links above), so the badge rewards require supporting gear that can hold up your hit rating, which is why I had to bank 140 badges until my other gear could theoretically support the haste badge items through the loss of hit..

edit: Added p.s.

I would take Skulker's greaves.Overall they add more dps than the badge one's.

That looks like a good PvP cloak, but how does it stack against Dark Reaver's for PvE?

All in all, I have got the ninja boots and the dragon brooch, and I am at a loss if there is anything interesting besides that. The gloves would break my T4 set, the pants would rid me of 3 sockets I need for the metagem...
Is that time to get FR things for A'lar?

For maximum dps (IE not considering stamina and such) Dark Reaver is better (63 vs 58), in DAEP (considering also stamina) Dory is better (75 vs 71). Source www.shadowpanther.net

The badge legs would be an upgrade assuming that you could take them and still stay really close to 300 hit. If you can't, then I would advise against those legs.
